Insurance Woes

Featured Replies

I learnt the other day that Insurers use a rating of A to F to split the UK up for risk purposes, so a mate of mine lives in the wilds of Suffolk and drives every day to London parks not far from where I live so that he doesn't have to pay congestion charge and stupid parking fees.

You guessed it he is Band A and I am Band F* how can that be justified!

I sometimes think my insurance would be cheaper if I lived in Beirut!

Surely he is A because of "wilds of Suffolk" and you are F because you're in the "big smoke" ? :)

One benefit of being in Devon is most of it is A rated.

Actually looks like where I am is a B area - oh well.

1-5, 8, 20, 34 . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . B
6-7, 9-19, 21-24, 31-33, 35-39 . . . . . . . . A

What I was getting at Jason, by driving to where I live and parking where I live surely the risk is the same as for me!

Where does he park it overnight, which is the time that most car thefts occur?

Yup postcode does make a big difference for insurance. As does your job title.

this year my insurance was cheaper than my road tax for the first time.

But the insurance company don't know where he parks his car when not at his home which is most of the time.
