Rotary polisher

Featured Replies

Good morning all :)

I'm looking to buy a rotary polisher, but know very little about machine polishers.

I'm not looking to spend a great deal of money. I have seen some bundles on ebay for under 100 pounds which seems like a fair price.

I had wondered if there was really any difference other than perhaps build quality with these and the more expensive ones.

The way i thought about it was, aslong as you have variable speed, and atatchments fit it ... and of course ... it spins... then it cant be any worse than a higher end polisher.

For example, this is the one i breifly looked at

I have an ep801 and it's great!

I have an ep801 and it's great!

Who's that made by mate?

Are they all the same? As long as you have a spinning pad they surely can't be any different?

No they are not the same

You sound like you would be better off with DA polisher as they are more beginner friendly/safer

However here is the one Jason and I have:

My recommendation for you instead:

http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/polishing-machines/das-6-pro-dual-action-polisher/das-6-pro-dual-action-polisher/prod_673.html

You can buy both with various pads and polishes for different paintwork and cuts/refinement jobs

Don't forget this too...a must have for polishing, particularly when using Rotary machines:

Ep801 soft start is nice feature.

Thanks chaps. I'm going to buy the polisher that you both have :) it's a fair price

Please listen to the advice about the paint thickness gauge if you are buying the rotary polisher.

As Chris has suggested if this is your first go at machine polishing, you should really consider a dual action polisher for safety.

I'll make sure I get a depth gauge.

I appreciate the concern about using a rotary polisher, but I think you'd have to be a complete moron to burn the paint etc... Some basic common sense and due care will ensure safe usage

I like the look of the rotary you guys reccommend, I'll purchase one this weekend :)

Besides, if all DOES go wrong, which of course it won't, I'm a paint sprayer so can respray any panels that need doing. Not to mention I have a whole spare car to practise on.

Good luck with it....whatever you do, keep it moving and don't let the paint get hot

If you need any advice re pads and polish....just fire away

Thanks very much Chris, no doubt I will be asking very soon what pads I'll be needing and for which application. Thank you for your recommendation on which is a good tool. I look forward to some polishing! :)

Great little rotary.... very happy with mine and does the job nicely.

If you want cheap pads - let me know, i have a cheap source for 3" (great for small detailed areas),

plus 5" and 6" waffle pads for more general polishing/glaze work.
