Build Spec & Build quality?

Featured Replies

Not so, Skoda have/are trading on the fact their build quality is up to the standard of all VW products.

Are they, I've not seen that in any literature.....

So, if you're not impressed, don't join the back of the waiting line. Buy a car you like and get it quicker. Every ones a winner.

All I stated was a personal opinion based on my test drive, & as you suggest I won't be joining the queue.

Not all brand values get written down. In this case Skoda leave it to all the trade reviews to point out that you're getting VW/Audi build quality and internals for less money than you'd pay for a VW or Audi. It's certainly one of the key reasons why I own an Octy and before that had a Leon for 10 years.

No it's not, but the global ethos of all companies owned by the VW group is that what they manufacture will be up to the exacting standards of the VW parent company.

I wonder if the massive waiting list is down to the fact that these new Octavias are are bit tinny? Well I love my vRS, it has an astonishing tsi powerplant. If I was to criticise anythnig it would be the shyte boot area carpet, or excuse for one, but then again it was the same grey shyte that was in my MKII.

The Interior of the 'lesser' Octys is not much different to the vRS, bar the red stitching and seats.

I know, opinions are what these forums are for and you expressed yours very clearly.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to a Nissan forum to start a post telling the readers on there that I'll not be buying a qashqai because I don't think the quality of the interior is very good.

I like... but have you seen the tiny boot on them Qashqais? That is worth complaining about!

Somewhere Marketing managers of Audi, Porsche and Bugatti have just broken down in tears...

It seems the Mk3 has lots of admirers from the vRS owners, but no comments yet from the standard spec owners, does this imply they're not all that happy?

From a non vRS owner - the quality of my car is exceptional for the price paid and I'm more than satisfied nearly 10 months and 15k miles on. Is the quality as good as higher priced VAG products? - no! Not as good as Bentley, Bugatti or Porsche but such comparisons are irrelevent of course. Not quite as good as Audi, not much difference than the VW Golf. Better than Seat.

According to the RAC VAG Assist stastistics the Octavia range has the least number of call outs per road miles of all the VW group vehicles, Bentley & Bugatti are the worst for roadside breakdowns/call outs.

Somewhat like an atractive woman, temprimental, costly & high maintenance.

I'd better sell my Veyron and buy an Octavia vRS then... :giggle:
