VCDS Tweaks

Featured Replies

Right,

I've formed a preliminary list of a few VCDS options I would like to enable on my 2008 pre-fl vRS CR170, fitted with Maxidot (can't think of any others off the top of my head).

1) Staging

2) Anti Hijack

3) Leaving Home / Coming Home lights

4) Rear wiper Teardrop Wipe

Any one know if all these are possible, as my present list of Maxidot options are pretty sparse?

Which of these are selectable/deselectable in Maxidot, once enabled via VCDS, too?

Cheers,

Fr0d

1 - don't think so

2 - yes

3 - yes but do you have the light/rain sensor?

4 - yes

I had the Coming/leaving lights activated on my 07 plate Octavia PD Vrs.  No Maxi dot or light sensor though

The light sensor, or lack thereof, just changes the behaviour of the CH/LH lights.

Needle staging not available for my car? That's a surprise - i thought it was there for certain.

I also didn't know rain sensors (which I dont have) had anything to do with CH/LH lights. In what way do they change the behaviour?

Is there anything else I should be considering?

I thought staging only worked on FL cars.

The rain sensor is also the light sensor. Without the sensor the CH/LH lights work all the time if you leave the switch on the headlights position. With the sensor the LH lights work off the sensor, the CH lights work only when the switch is left on and that then overrides the LH light sensor.

Oh, i see - I'm getting confused with cornering lights.

Thanks for clearing that up.

Right, done a quick search, with no clear result, for my pre-fl.

For staging (if I have it) its:

1.  Go into [17] Instrument

2.  Coding -> Function 10

3.  Byte 1

4.  Enable Bit 0

For Anti Hijack, I have:

Setup - Convenience - Door Open - Automatic.
Options are:-
Door Lock = [ON] - automatically locks doors when car goes over 15-20km/h
Door Unlock = [ON] - automatically unlocks doors when car is switched off and key fob is removed from the ignition barrel.

Are the above instructions correct?

How do I enable rear teardrop wipe via VCDS though?

Cheers

How do I enable rear teardrop wipe via VCDS though?

It should be an adaptation in 46 - central convenience.

As trundlenut said staging is for cars fitted with the newer white instrument dials, in the cast of an Octavia this means F/L onwards.

Confirmed - No staging on my vehicle. Can't say I'm that bothered though, tbh.

I've now got Auto Locking working in VCDS, but I can't see any way to toggle it on or off via Maxidot. Is this only possible via VCDS? I thought once you set it up, It would be a Maxidot option?

Just noticed the other day - it seems like my rear wiper is set to teardrop by default anyway - Doh!

I'm pretty lost with enabling cornering lights too - any pointers where I should be looking?

Cheers

I don't think you can do cornering fogs on a pre FL.

Auto locking may called something like anti hijack.

Cornering fogs are possible on later pre FLs - basically it needs the newer central electronic control module 09 (with the 30 bytes of coding).  In VCDS, it is module 09 byte 23 or 24 I think.

Doesn't work on my MY07 Octavia.

I think it was around 57 or 08 that the newer module was added.

It use to work on my 57 Octy

There seems to be code referring to cornering fogs in my 58 plate, but I can't seem to do anything with it.

I'm not too bothered though, as I doubt I'll regularly use it now.

I can't see auto locking or anti hijack in the Maxidot setup menu. What specific sub-menu would it be under?

I don't have maxidot but I think it is in the same place as comfort closing for the windows.

Finally found it - In my car It is disabled by default.

Using VCDS, under "46 Central Convenicence" and using the long coding helper and the last byte of code, there is a check box to enable it for a Maxidot cluster. I have the "Highline" convenience module, so I knew it was in there somewhere.
