Hi there.

Hoping it will sound better than the standard set up. Can someone tell me, does the door card need to be removed ie is there a crossover behind it, or can I just flip off the existing speaker grill and screw in the new speaker.I am going to try and modify the new tweeters into the existing housing. Should I go with the way the speaker and tweeter are wired up now, or wire them up like in the picture below?

Any help is appreciated

Also, I haven't looked yet, but is there somewhere for the sub cables to go through to the battery, a gromit through to the engine block perhaps?

Dan

Door cards off bud, full access to speaker

No crossover

Yes on the pass side there is a gromet behind glove box iirc

But cant remember exactly where

I think theres 1 from where pollen filter is too mate

Yeah the tweeter pos will piggy back of the speaker pos

Same with neg

Then the oem - to -

+ to + mate

Phone wouldnt zoom enough

Thanks Lloyd, I have pretty much full access to the speaker with out having to take the door card off as in picture 2. But I will remove it anyway, tomorrow hopefully,I was going to do it tonight in the dark then realised quite quickly that's a stupid idea lol

Dan

Bad things happen in the dark mate :(

Usually causes rushing

Will make running the tweeter up easier with door card off

What i did is used a soldering iron to melt the oem tweeter bracket to the size needed to fit my tweeter

Then used buytl to form a ring around tweet so no sound lost backwards into door

Then used a glue gun to tack the tweeter in place

cool, sounds like a good idea. I'll update tomorrow if I get it done. Have to look after the lil nipper and go shopping with the wife, school run, dinner etc etc....the hours just drift away

Tell me about it :)

I waste my hours with disney films as of late lol

mind your door membranes when your tackling the speakers! or you will be taking the door cards off to find the leak...

Thanks, I wasn't 100% sure if it was just sound deadening or waterproofing as well

the plastic is very much waterproofing.... just search for "Water in footwells" or leaky doors....

quite a few are sourced back to a/m speaker fitting breaking the plastic...

Speakers fitted today, not blowing my mind but they're an improvement on standard. I'llrtry get the sub done in my work break tomorrow or Friday then it will be a vast improvement I reckon.

Do I really need to run the power cable for the sub and the rca and remote leads separately down the for the sake of interference? If anyone else has done this, did you just go down the side between the carpet and the plastic sides of the interior, or down the centre under the carpet?

Thanks

Dan

If its half decent rca tbh u should be fine

What size power cable u got

Just try split them best u can mate

If u pop seat out u can easily get abit of distance

000's prob dont

If you take scuttle panel off just behind pollen filter is a grommet which just pops out for power cable. Glovebox removal is required. But its quite easy mate :)

Cool, I've had the glove box out already, it's an easy job you're right.

The sub and amp came with wiring so I'm not sure what size it is right now but the instructions say a minimum of ten gage, so I wouldssay it's at least a ten gage cable. ;-) :-D

What are 000's?

000s

Thousands

10 awg cable is daft thin

In guessing it will be 8awg mate

Fairly small so easy to route

Ok cool. It's nearly been a year since I last had a sub setup in a car, had a Navara d22 before this and it wasn't really worth the bother. So I can't wait!

Always cool when go from nowt to boom booms lol
