Help - Upgrading Satnav Maps - failed

Featured Replies

Hi there, 1st time post here. I've ran into a bit of a problem when trying to upgrade the sat nav maps on the Columbus unit.

I've followed the instructions they list and all I get is no data on sd card when I try to do the update.

I have downloaded the whole file and also downloaded the individual files and have extracted them on to a 32gb sd card but all I get is no data warning.

Has anyone had a similar problem or can lend a hand in this matter I'd greatly appreciate it. Thx.

Are you using the Skoda SD card?

No the Skoda one was only an 8gb. So bought a pny 32gb sdhc card to use as the file around 16gb.

I don't have sat nav in mine but I've read on here that the sat nav will only accept maps off the official Skoda SD card....

On the website it just states that I need at least a 32gb sd card and the recommend a class 10/sdhc card which mine is. Nothing about that it need to be theirs. I hope it isn't this....

Can anyone else confirm this???

The Columbus doesn't need to use a Skoda SD card to perform the update.  I was able to do it with a 64 Gb SDXC card, althougth only the first 32Gb was formatted because my reader only supported SDHC (back in November).

Unfortunately mine updated first time with no errors so I can't help with the problem.

Are the November 2013 maps already installed and no update is required?

The version numbers were different.

May I ask you how you did it?? Ie downloaded the separate files or full file. And then did you extract part 1 to the disk...

What file system did you use for the sd card?? Fat32 or ntfs?

Fat32 is fine. Are you using 7zip for the extract? What is the total amount you have extracted to the card?

Mine is around 18.2gb and in the root of the card there should be the following folders:

Eggnog

NavDB

SpeechResVDE

and a file named metainfo2.txt

Yep I'm using 7zip. I have been using ntfs, so just trying it as fat32.

I got 18.2gb on the card and yes the root has these folders and file in that order.

Eggnog is 29.1MB (3 files, 9 folders)

NavDB is 17.1 GB (661 files, 149 folders)

SpeechResVDE is 0.99 GB (148 files, 150 folders)

Metainfo2 is 55.2KB

Have you removed all other SD cards and USB devices?

Also, is the ignition on?

If you copy some mp3s on to the card can you read them?

Maybe because that is an Amundsen and you have downloaded maps for a Columbus?

Is that an Amundsen?? I was told it was a columbus!!

Damn I feel like an idiot!!

Your sure it's an Amundsen then?

Thx

+1 thats an Amundsen, entirely SD card driven and has to use the supplied Skoda Nav SD card as its apparently formatted in a very specific way.

Process I believe is as follows:-

Download Amundsen maps from the website

Backup the current Skoda SD card content to your PC then delete the files (do not format the card)

Copy the new files to the SD and then insert in SD slot 2 (one to the right)

Open the Nav by pressing the Nav button, the device should just read the map content.

the update you are trying to perform is a firmware update of the OS on the unit itself, may not be entirely accurate but believe this is something that can only be done by a main dealer at this time as the firmware files are no publicly available.

Typically dealers would only perform a firmware update if there is good cause to do so, as part of a diagnosed warranty issue or tech fault with the software installed.
