insurance sorted for another year

Featured Replies

Sorry to resurect this old thread but I bought a vrs on Friday, Insured it through L.V, with no problem, so I was going through old reciepts and found there was a few modifications, ie suspension , dumpvalve different exaust, so phoned my insurance company up to tell them this, the buggers cancelled my insurance, as they say they wont insure it, what the hell

Very harsh but unfortunately some companies just don't touch mods. Do you have to pay any fees for this? Could be worse if they'd locked you into the policy and ramped up your premium, costing you an arm and leg to end it early.

Have a ring around, for non mod specialists admiral are usually reasonable. Greenline seem ok but Adrian Flux knocked a load off my best quote all mods declared. Don't panic yet, although I understand why you're very cheesed off.

Hi,

Please feel free to give us a try for insurance if you like. If you wanted to PM me some contact details I'd be happy to arrange for one of my quotes team to give you a call back.

Regards,

Dan.

my problem is that ive always been a named driver on our lasses insurance so means i have no ncb even though ive been with our lass on her insurance for donkeys years, been getting quotes on meercat for 10,000,

Admiral wouldnt touch it, looks like its the suspension changes are the problem and anti roll bars, are these costly to replace back to normal, wouldnt mind at my age i dont drive around like a loon, so dont really need the suspension thats on it..ha ha

Naming her on your policy would help...

Just done mine £600 fully comp for 1 year. Been driving since feb 07 and only 25.

New to this car thing, so for speed I used my insurers for the LT, 2Gether.

£455 fully comprehensive. Now that is with two years mirrored no claims, Dearly beloved as a second driver even though she has not driven for six years or so at least, and they are treating this as my first car. I, too, am an old git at 54.

Mileage is limited to 5000 as is the LT, which under the same conditions only costs £290.

29 almost 30, 7 years no claims, no offences living in sr5 and I'm paying £1500 I was t happy I paid less on my 05 plate leon fr tdi that was only £700

24 4years ncb £750ish with adrian flux. Includes air filter.

Had my renewal the other week. Greenlight smashed flux with a price of £449 and protected my ncb. Includes a few mods and no fee for additional mods. Really pleased

maybe running into a bit of luck with this, had a quote from sky insurance for £530, thats only £130 more thsn l.v, its helping that ive a drive record email from l.v with proof of being on her insurance for 2 years with no claims...happy days

Good stuff there you go, have you named her on your policy?

Yes, although been in touch with chris knot and they have said if i can get proof of our lasses ncb bonus which is over 9 years they maybe able to mirror it and make it even cheaper, problem is lv wont release proof unless she cancels her insurance, so dont know how i will do that unless its on her policy

Last years renewal notice will have proof of 8 years NCD - doubt there's much/any difference in discount between 8 and 9 years claim free.

^^try that

Weird how insurance works, just got of the phone with chris knot as i received a driving record from L.v which say she had 2 incidents or claims in the past 5 years, I know the were not claims they were incidents in car parks, 50 / 50 were neither party decided to claim, and as one was for last year they said they would not be able to mirror her nice juicy 9 years bonus, so that's that stuffed then, think though I will go with sky insurance for 530 as Adrian Flux didn't seem right, was trying to get me to take the insurance over the phone there and then, told me the offer they had was only available whilst on the phone, i told them that I would have to speak to other half which they replied they would phone her for me, told them id be in touch then they said they would phone me later, talk about the hard sell, then I mentioned something Id forgot to tell them a motorbike accident I had 3 years ago and they knew already which I thought that's funny I didn't tell them.Bit shady that.....

So not bad going from £10,000 quotes last night to £530 this afternoon, I need a lie down lol

The world of insurance is certainly a strange one. Plus there's all kinds of complicated logarithms they use to calculate risk and give the price. Prices are literally only available there and then sometimes, probably won't change much but they will vary. Insurance is a sales driven business so whilst they may have pushed it a little they're only doing there job. People often report on the negative things, but no hassles for me with Adrian Flux so far. The deal you got from Sky seems pretty good though. It is hard work but you got there in the end!
