Removing interior trim

Featured Replies

Hello peeps

I'm wanting to remove the trim around the air outtakes both sides and the larger middle trim inside the car and the trim round the AC and side pieces

Does anyone know how to remove them? I am wanting to wrap them in another colour!

Dan

I think I saw somewhere on here that you have to use a trim removal tool (like a plastic knife) and just prise them off.

Ill try and find the thread again but cant remember how I found it now :)

The side air vents just pull out with fingers with a decent pull, I took mine out as there was a little rattle behind that bugged the hell out of me.

The AC/heater controls trim and the two small trim pieces either side can easily be pulled out with a screwdriver. I wrapped some insulation tape around the tip of the screwdriver when I removed mine (to fix some rattles), to avoid scratching them. I pulled on the lower edge.

Unfortunately, the centre face vent above these needs a special tool from VAG to remove, as far as I know.

They just pop off. Ive wrapped all mine in carbon. Did blue at first but looked awful.

The side ones are easy to remove and later dismantle. I've done mine so I know.

But the middle one is a pain and you will need to remove what is below it in order to get proper access and not brake it.

32kofdata, is that vinyl wrap round your vents?

Nope - it was a test I did with Water Transfer Printing, a starter kit I bought from these guys: http://shop.strato.de/epages/62180964.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/62180964/Categories

Look for Hydrographics on youTube or water transfer printing:

Didn't like the result, i.e. I didn't do a good job so I ended up painting all vent trims in black gloss and that was that.
