Office 365

Featured Replies

Quite temped by this now that they have released a 2 licence version for £40, but a wee bit confused by the "cloud" comments.  If I "load" this can I still access with a laptop while out of wifi range?

No, it requires an active internet connection be it via wifi, mobile phone or home broadband.

If you are considering that sort of product and you only do basic things you might want to consider Google docs which is free.

Or Libra Office which is a free office package to install.

Unless this is an even more cut down version, you still get to install office on your PC which will work offline.

hmm, two conflicting opinions.

have recently installed Libre office and its ok but prefer Office if i could get it at that price. must work off line however as no wifi, 3g or even any g's in some places i need access to my documents.

Assuming they have changed the way it works, you periodically need an internet connection to validate the licence. It will work for a few days without connecting though.

30 days.

Might actually be cheaper to buy office proper in the long run especially if you can access a child to get an education license.

Even cheaper if your employer has an enterprise agreement with Microsoft, if they do you can get the full blown office product for £7.95 and use it for as long as you work for them(officially, unofficially it keeps on working just as the normal version even when you leave your employer).

Looks like I was wrong you can use Office 365 offline.

I did think it was a web service only.

Got my last version cheap that way a few years ago and the education link was fairly stretched  ( I had enrolled in a 2 week residential course at a college) but sadly no link now.

This is what is on offer - lets see how they price it this side of the pond tho'  http://blogs.office.com/2014/03/13/announcing-office-365-personal-a-new-way-to-access-office-365/

SWMBO is a teacher so we got a 2 PC license of Office pro for £8 though a negotiated enterprise deal.

Everything on my PC is bought and paid for or license free. Even Windows. First time I've ever been totally legal.
