Adjusting actuator and set up

Recommended Posts

Got a problem, as some of you may of seen in my project thread my turbo went on my fabia, bought a pd130 hybrid built with garrett gt1749v shell and gt1749vc internals/fan, the car already had a 205bhp map on.

So fitted the new turbo and there is hardly no boost/pull, adjusted it like and did it around 3 full turns so that you have to pull the actuator arm onto the pin as read in one of the threads on here, car is still boosting very little, and a police siren kind of whistle to the turbo but it cant be knackered as its still boosting a little.

Tomorrow im going to get the live vagcom on it so i can see the boost pressure, until then does anyone have any pointers or advice they could share with me to help me fix this problem ie. how much to adjust the actuator on the turbo

Whys that pal?

Just cause the screw is so small, the locknut is hard to get a spanner on, the turbo is hot, and there is hardly any room for your hands!

You need VAGCOM connected when setting it up, to operate the actuator and record the results.

Stop screw is easy 8mm socket, Allen key and some tipex

Actuator is 10mm spanner and tiny pry bar

I would suggest to anyone loosen them before fitting the turbo and do them up hand tight it makes is so much easier to adjust

Stop screw isnt that easy pal ! Been at it all night, testing it, turned it inwards 3 full turns, boosts very well pulls like it used to but dosn't kick in till 2,500rpm, been adjusting all night and cant seen to get it lower than that

The stop screw wasnt right it was unscrewed all the way out and yes i got desired boost pressure up, actual boost pressure

have you checked it with vagcom?
