Tyre life

Featured Replies

Just clicked over 20,000 miles in 10 months and have had my car serviced.

Interested to see how my tyres were holding up - the service report says 8mm left on the rears and 6mm left on the fronts.

Not bad me thinks! Certainly better than the 4300 miles I got from a set of rear tyres on my TVR Cerbera 4.5 a few years back (yes, I know 4,300 means I wasn't driving fast enough…!)  I'm expecting that the Citigos tyres might be a tad cheaper than the £450 per tyre I was paying on the Cerby!

Out of interest what have people been paying for replacement Citigo tyres (14" wheels)?

Thats good tyre life!

I'm not sure about the 14s but i had to replace a punctured tyre on my 16s (and a strange size too) and they varies from £60 to 120 per wheel. I could get the OEM tyres for about £90 fitted.

Another citigo owner in the NE too!

OEM tyres?  I assume you mean same brand/type as originally fitted by Skoda;  or do you mean as supplied by a Skoda dealer?

I looked at this before ordering. Prime manufacturers come in from about £40 for something nice. Goodyear Efficient Grip seem like a good idea for the money.

In that instance OEM was a lazy way of saying the tyres that came with the car. I also had to pay more for the tyre as i needed them very quickly and most of the cheaper online places couldnt get them to me quick enough.

So about £40 per tyre - that's about the same as what I pay for cycle tyres, bargain!

Thanks all!

As much as I like my Citigo, the Cerby was more fun in an 'ohmygodthisiswhatitsliketofalloffabuildingI'mgoingtodie' kinda way! It had the 4.5 Tuscan race engine in it and was decatted and red-rosed. A friend had a Chimera too - lovely lovely motor.  How many of your friends worked out how to open the doors from inside…?!

No one :) not many could open it from the outside either..

Decent tyre life, not bad at all!

Quite amazing really as new tyres have 8mm of tread so 20k miles and there is absolutely no wear on the rears a bit suspect when you think about it.

How can it have 8mm left? A brand new tyre has 8mm dont they?

If this is right. Your tyres will last forever ;). Or atleast until they deteriorate ;)

If the tyres had been changed front to rear at around 10,000 miles,

all 4 might now have 7mm of tread.

Our Citigo was serviced recently. it had only done 5K and had 6mm on all but the nearside front which was 5mm.

It's a good point!!  Either the dealership can't use a ruler or I have discovered everlasting rubber...

just had my 10k service

4mm left on the front, 5mm on the back. You are not driving them hard enough ;)
