My New Golf R :)

Featured Replies

Well after many posts about me getting (& recommending) a great deal on the Golf R, I finally got confirmation of my order and an expected delivery date of early September.

Mixed feelings as I love my present car, but the Golf R has great reviews and I now have a bit longer to keep the S4 :)

Also with an expected September delivery I may get a 64 plate, woohoo!

Great news - enjoy it when it comes!

What colour you going for?

I certainly hope your Golf .:R is all you hope for!

I love my .:R and have never looked back..... enjoy.

Jealous much!

This is car I just dont get. Last week I was in Aberdeen, in the union square shopping centre, the local vw garage had cars in there. A 4x4 thingy, golf gti and a golf R. The golf gti looked sporty and the golf R just didn't look sporty at all. I just think for the power and the price it should just look a little more special.

I suppose this is where people's POV differ.

Why should a car look special? I have had many nice looking cars, and ultimately after a few hours / days / weeks, it becomes the norm.

The one overiding factor that remains to the owner is - how it drives.

The Golf R doesn't shout too loud, it doesn't need to, I like that :)

Lapiz Blue, been a while since I had a blue car :)

Looks great. Seems quite like Race Blue to me

Looks a decent combo of sportiness & presence, without trying too hard IMO.

I spotted a lovely blue golf at yesterday! However we saw a golf GTI today (latest model) and he seemed to think it looked more sportier than the R too.

Me likey

The car is being ordered through VW Windrush which is the other end of the country for me (about 200 miles)

Anyone know or used them?

I think I will ask if it can be delivered by low loader / dolly. Anyone had experience of requesting this? What distance is generally deemed acceptable before they will transport it?

You can always ask the supplying dealer how they intend to deliver, when i deliver lease cars if it's over 150 miles we put them on a carrier, anything below 150 and I drive them. Due to them being lease cars it all depends on the lease company and there policy.

That gives me a bit of hope then :)

It was mentioned when I first enquired that cars are driven from local dealers, but MAY be transported from dealers further afield.

Need to ask the right person :)

Who would deal with that. The lease company or supplying dealer?

Did you get one of those great rate deals that were on the forum a while back?

The one I saw made this car surprisingly affordable.

Looks nice.

Yep.

6+23 x £264 @ 11000 miles / year.

Fully maintained inc tyres :)

Could of got £245 / month but didn't fancy the Tornado red or 3 doors. I also stuck on an extra 1000 miles just to be safe.

That is an exceptionally good price for a very capable car.

Blue and 5 door is the best choice, IMO.

When I saw this thread I expected you to have it, but I'll see the pictures in about 5 months. :)

With a two year lease wether it's a 14 or a 64 doesn't really matter IMO.

It'll still be quite new when you move onto something else.

Have you got the Mark 7?

That's very good of you to share, too many people aren't willing to post their PCP's.

As someone who is looking with more and more interest at PCP's can I please ask what the "6+" represents? Is this the deposit, equivalent to 6 monthly payments?

Thanks.

Yep 6x monthly payment as deposit.

That's a very good deal, I must say. Who is it through?

That gives me a bit of hope then :)

You could state to the dealer and lease company that you don't want more than 150 miles on the clock, also you want your mileage to start when you sign for the delivery of the car with mileage noted on the delivery sheet. Ie after 2 years you can have 22150m with no mileage penalty.

Have you got the Mark 7?

I believe it's an R36 Passat, in a very nice blue.

Correct Sir - that's my ride.

Certainly seems you got a great deal and i'm looking forward to hearing your feedback on the Golf .:R

I do like the R36, but that is my type of car :)

The Golf is a downsize, but hopefully will suit my lifestyle more these days.

Expect a write up in 5 months :)

You're not allowed to say that on here!

Seriously though, you're right. It looks really plain and it's not helped by the navy blur I keep seeing them in!

I also watched a video yesterday by autocar or someone or other who thought it was a much poorer drive than the new Leon Cupra. Also, the gti pp was mentioned as being more nimble.

It's not a PCP, but a straight lease.

6 payments as deposit, then 23 x months for the remaining term.

The deal included all servicing, maintenance, RFL & unlimited tyres:)

The company is leaseplango.co.uk

The deals on the Golf R have gone but I know they have a good deal on a few Yeti Adventure 2.0 TDi for £219 / month (6 + 47) fully maintained
