Octavia1.9 Tdi-777 Miles-33.7 Mpg- Is This A Record

Featured Replies

Yep thats the MPG we got on Saturday coming back through France. seems horrendous but I should add the following which I think makes it quite pleasing

Car is a 1.9 TDi L&K Estate & was complete with a roof box, 4 occupants, complete with all their holiday luggage, 3 cases of beer & 20 cases of wine.

We set the cruise control to 100 & according to the read out averaged 76 mph for the trip.

One useful tip for others who have an estate & are partial to the odd bottle of wine, the lower area in the boot is almost exactly a wine bottle deep so lay bottles in the bottom, cover with a towel to take up the small gap & hey presto, 50 odd bottles stored.

Stuart

I did 95 most of the way down the M5 yesterday in my unladen TDI fabia, and didn't get much better than 45mpg, most of the time I was in the low forties (according to the comp anyway) I did the 150 mile trip and still had 3/4 of a tank of fuel (according to the guage, which could also be inaccurate)

If I understand that correctly, Jason, you may have achieved something like 45mpg during a 150 mile trip. Any chance of being a bit more precise than that? :(

Hi Stuart,

I wouldn't worry too much about that mpg, considering the load you had on board, esp. the roof box! - they are always a killer on fuel. Look on the bright side, diesel is cheap in Europe, and what would the mpg have beem like if it had been a vRS Estate!!

I also have an L&K TDi Estate and currently get low 40's on my combination of London commute and some up country customer visits.

John.

I assume that was 95 kph Jason??:
