So, a 407 was a bad idea...

Not so much a "hello" as a "hello again..."

Back in 2009-ish I foolishly decided to sell my Mk1 Occy and replace it with a Pug 407. I've always been of the opinion that French cars are second only to the Italians for bloody weird design decisions, and the 407 lived up to it. My favourite driving delight was when it randomly started waving its mirrors back and forth in the rain. In a close second was the tyre pressure system that used to announce that it couldn't talk to the tyres, then declare one flat. Although there was something special about the boot that only opens electronically (no keyhole) but relies on incredibly thin wire to supply the lock with power. I'm informed that watching a 6ft5 bloke with the BMI of an elephant climb through the back seats to try and peel the boot lining is highly entertaining.

Anyway, the 407 is now gone and I'm back in an '07 Octavia Laurent and Klemin, so I'll be back to asking random questions that I fail to follow up on... :)

Welcome back CA  :hi:

L&K -very nice!

IIRC, the boot could be opened by pressing the centre of the zero in 407.

Obviously not the easiest of things to spot as you've just confirmed!

Oh, it does... But it's an electronic button, not a mechanical one. So when the stupidly thin wire that supplies power finally snaps in two... :)

Got to love the L&K - first car I've owned with full leather.

Only had it a fortnight, and already looking at the (minor) improvements to make it mine.

Welcome along. The weird thing about the larger Peugeots is that the 406 was such an accomplished car with proven reliability, that the 407 was a disaster after it. I've had 3 x 406's over the years and been blessed with simple mechanics, excellent MPG and sublime ride comfort. In between the 406's I had a spell in a Mk1 Octavia TDi, again a well built reliable car.

Hope the L & K serves you well!
