Cotton Tee for buffing

Featured Replies

I seem to recall being told that a well-used, well-washed old cotton tee shirt was the ideal material for buffing a freshly polished/waxed car. Would this still be good advise or has microfibre left cotton in the dark ages in this respect?

Thanks, Glyn

Save the T for what I would call grubby jobs, engine bay etc.

In general I wouldn't use a T shirt to buff off my LSP, a good MF is just a lot gentler, also the construction of it means the buffing surface is less likely to get clogged with the product you are removing, making it more efficient. A flatter surface like a T would quickly clog and just smear the wax. Maybe less of a problem with a sealant, but microfibre can be had quite cheap for decent quality.

Rags for dirty work.

Microfibre for most else.

A bit like household dusters too. They're a no no.
