Getting to know your Rapid

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

Had a great weekend in the Borders at the Melrose rugby 7's.

I drove there/back to Perth and all weekend the roads are winding and undulating. (can recomend the area for a great weekend away)

It showed the Rapid 1.4TSI DSG at its best, overtaking was a breeze when required, but generally cruised and got to know the car better (wife drives it all week)

It returned (digitally) 48MPG over the weekend (approx 300miles) so well pleased with car and will find out "actual" MPG at next fill up?? (last fill up was 45mpg on general mixed usauge)

Sounds like a good drive.

Off to the Warrington, then the borders then Glasgow, Loch Lomond soon, so will be first road trip with the Rapid.

On first refuel she did 54.1 mpg out of the 1.6 diesel which was a mix of town and country driving.

Enjoy your trip through Scotland and hope to hear hoe it went (and MPG ;<) )

  • 2 weeks later...

Hi

Back from trip to north of England and Scotland.

Did 1410 miles during the trip and according to the trip computer averaged 67.2 mpg, with on one day managed to get 82mpg (sensible driving day !)

Working out the gallons put in and miles I get it to be 62 mpg on the trip so computer slightly out.

On fuelly I am averaging 59.8 mpg having done 2020 miles since collection.

Nice trip and car performed well, only issue was a squeeking noise which I thought was at first the door panels but eventually worked it out to be the door windows rubbing against the window seals as stops when put window down v slightly.

May be that I put rain x on side windows last time washed it, regret that now as its an annoying noise.

Hi KPH,

Glad you enjoyed your trip "up north". :hi:

Thats pretty impressive MPG, obviously a desiel ;<) Is it manual also. :wonder:

I am very happy with my 46mpg :sun:

You can get a PTFE based rubber lubricant for door seals that lasts for "ever" and minimises squeaks and rattles in rubber (and plastic bits) I used it on roof /window rubber seals in my previous cars (Copen and Focus CC's)

My trip computer is routinely around 5% (ish) optimistic after a week or two of driving ... oddly on the rare occasion when I've used the full tank across two long distance trips it's been almost spot on, it appears that the stop/start cycles introduce a small error which compounds over the course of a couple of weeks' commuting...

Last fill up was 53.6mpg, trip indicated 56.9 (I always reset memory 2 when I fill up).
