Ford. Going back after 14 years...

Serves you right for being traitor     .

Have to agree though that is VERY naughty to register the car based on assigned build info & the car isnt even physically built.

Have you got a copy of the virtual PDI document to verify the virtual car has been virtually inspected correctly.

Make sure that the sandwich board with the registration on is level, front & back, the tax disk is printed on the front the right way up & ask if you get free replacement batteries for the little box attached that makes the bruum bruum  engine noise  .

My Son has traded a fiesta in for a Focus, & regularly complained how poor the turning circle was in his fiesta.

I will admit that I looked at the Kuga as well, but I really could not live with the mess of a centre console, it would drive me mad every time i would have got in the car.

The std toys are slightly better than the Yeti, but not ones i personally couldn't see as a must have.

Hope you enjoy it when it eventually arrives.

  • Been told the car will be ready for collection on the 22nd. It's been at Dagenham for a week. Have lodged a complaint with Ford. Also thinking of checking paint thicknesses upon collection.

  • Paint thickness gauge purchased!

  • Rather than phone calls etc I just went down there for a chat.  Probably easiest.   Short version is a few "sweetners" and I can get my car tomorrow, it's arrived today at the dealership. Just got

Got to ask Boss, but are you young enough to drive a Fiesta ST?

According to HJ in Saturday's Telegraph, he says you just look silly in one unless you're under 40. :giggle:

I'm 39...

I have seen a few Fiesta ST's around where i live and to be honest they are never driven by anyone under the age of 40 :)

Hope you get the car soon :)

That's very naughty. We are not allowed to register a car until it is actually on site with us. Seems like they at least owe you some Tax. Might be worth asking for a demo car whilst you wait for yours as a bit of goodwill. Might speed them up. Also go over it very carefully when it arrives, as I might have some fresh paint,(hopefully not)

Being the resident cynic, correct.

They are just running them in for the yobbo second owners :P

:whew: wouldn't want you to look silly in your nice, new car

Can't believe they're messing you around Richard. And what a bunch of numpties spunking a 120k order for a sump, which would have cost them less than £300.

I wonder what ford uk would have thought of that!

Ford is the laziest most disjointed car maker, so they won't care they lost out. Someone somewhere might, but it will be lost in the blue ether.

I may be being thick here...

Why a paint thickness gauge? Are you thinking it could of been damaged and repaired, and theyre trying to hide that from you?

Edited by Otaylor38

Why else would they "hide" it's arrival from Richard?

Could have been damaged in transit?

I was just thinking general delays when i wrote that haha.

I guess it could have done. Seems very unfair to sell him a damaged repaired car though, even though they probably would?

Even if its repaired well, a good eye can always tell the difference cant they.

I'm going to look at these paint thickness gauges now. Not seen them before haha

Bossfox ... what colour ST have you chosen ?? I test drove one last year and was contemplating getting an ST-1 boggo std in race red. Held off then saw the Octy VRS and ordered one. Wish id gone with the ST now after all the delays with the Octy ...

I went for the blue.

They are not a looker if I am honest, and I don't particularly like the centre console.

But other than that I think they are a very fun little car.

It does well in the tests, seemed better on my test drives than other cars and the Mountune (warranty covered) upgrade is supposed to make it even better.

A manual 1,160kg Fiesta running near 220bhp with traction control you can switch off and a well set up chassis does sound like fun.

It's the only reason I considered a Ford.

Assuming I get it of course...

To be fair, if you need an Octy the Fiesta wouldn't be a good choice.

It may be cheaper, quicker and more fun, but it's not such a good cruiser and has far less space inside with tricky access to the rear seats.

Other than the front seats the interior is a backwards step on the Fiesta compared to the Octy too.

Two completely different fruits. :D

I've had a few Fords and TBF only had problems with a Fiesta SWMBO rolled that had to have a new shell, so the insurance company should probably have written it off which wasn't Fords fault. They took the car off us in the end after they'd had made several attempts to fix it (it kept cutting out) and we only changed manufacturer because we needed an estate with 7 seats which Ford didn't do. The bugbear with Fords then was the appauling depreciation, though I don't know if that's improved or not?

Bet it handles like a go cart though.....

So !     When will this get the Citigo go / Yeti vrs treatment ?   B)

I am slowly getting out of tuning cars to slightly daft levels...

Cheaper to buy a good base car, use it and sell it on!

Well, I think this is an issue with an individual Stealer rather than with FoMoCo per se. I've not driven a Ford for years, but been reasonably impressed with the last few I've passengered in.

I think that you're correct, we are both far too old to be enjoying driving..........,  :)  & the typical Ford centre-console is just too annoying to live with.

The next generation (face-lifted) is much improved, (as per Ford's own web-site pix) & if I do decide to downsize next year then it will be on the shopping-list.

Oops, I mean't to say "next generation face-lifted FOCUS!!

Hope the car turns up on the new date; but certainly find it shocking that it was registered so early.

Never had this when i have ordered a new car.... ever.

Good luck with the complaint and some deserved recompense!

Can't really understand if it is an individual dealer issue. In some ways, how can it be if the car's not even with them at the showroom yet?!

Just make sure ford didn't start your warranty on the registration date.

Also as you'll be keeping it over 3 years (big cough) you'll be wanting discount on the lost time until MOT is due.
