Best replacement stereo for Bolero

Featured Replies

I've got a 2011 Octavia vRS Estate that currently has the standard Bolero stereo and no bluetooth module.  For calls I have a parrot mk9200 installed.  However, the parrot seems to be on its last legs so I'm looking to replace.  But rather than just replace the parrot, I'd like to replace the parrot and stereo for a combined solution.

Other than the standard gubins, ideally the new stereo would have bluetooth phone management, sat nav, media input (SD card) and integrate with the octavia's controls for the rear parking sensors etc.  The front runner at the moment is the Kenwood DNX-521VBT as it seems to tick all the boxes but wasn't sure of any alternatives.

You'll need a new fascia whichever way you go.

The closest OEM solution you'll get, whilst not needing a second mortgage, would be Amundsen+ / RNS315. There are a couple of flavours: all have sat-nav and SD card, the variations are DAB (denoted by a round black connector on the back towards the top) and Bluetooth (this is identified by a sticker on the side show a MAC Code of something other than 00:00:00:00:00:00)

Amundsen+ is the pukka Skoda version with Skoda startup logo, with green buttons and menus. RNS 315 is VW/SEAT with red buttons and menus, and VW or SEAT startup logo. (depends on how OCD you want to be ;) )

At worst you might need a little tweek with VCDS to make sure all the functions are active. If you have MaxiDot you should be able to get directions on the MaxiDot display too. If you have MFSW it should work happily with that too :)

You can get Columbus.RNS510, but make sure you're sitting down when you see the price ;)

Thanks RainbowFire. Think I had one of those in a Passat hire car before.

Wouldn't your current Bolero do the job with a VW bluetooth unit?

I have a bolero with an old Parrot kit, must be 8 years I think.

I am looking at replacing it with the IO play 2

Buy a Columbus and you will be happy with it, for sure.

:D

Only one thing that is bad with Columbus is, expensive and not at all cheap repairs, if occured...:(

I have feel that on my own skin.
