Xenon levelling after fitting coilovers.

Featured Replies

Fitted some coilies at the weekend and noticed that when my xenons do the level test on start up that the amount they move has reduced - guessing this is due to being lower, however when driving at night the beam pattern appears to be lower.

Can I get away with manualy adjusting these?

I think the proper way is to use VCDS and basically put them back into learning mode to reset the 'normal' position. They're obviously detecting the drop in suspension as the car having more weight in and lowering acordingly.

I knew it would'nt be bloody simple lol

That is the proper way and good advice - but to be honest it will be such a small adjustment manually that it is probably not worth worrying about. I have certainly does this before just to get the factory setting to give decent illumination (again a small but very noticeable adjustment)

you're lucky they are still moving, normally when you disconnect the linkage they stop moving till you put them in learning mode

You have to use VCDS, put the lights into learning mode. Then carryout the adjustments, and save the new settings. If you don't use VCDS all that happens is that when the lights first auto level they will go back to exactly where you started from.

I disconnected front and rear, fitted coilies and then reconnected, ignition wasnt on at all whilst they where disconnected. may have done something correct for once lol

Sorry mate, from personal experience I am pretty sure that is not true. I think the headlights only know their orientation from what the sensor arm tells them.
