vRS Minimum Insurance age

Featured Replies

Just a quick heads up to any younger lads out there wishing to buy and insure a Mk1 vRS (certain for the Fabia, would assume the same for an Octavia too)
To cut a long story short:
Liverpool Victoria (LV) won't insure me on my Fabia vRS until I am 23 (currently 21)
Luckily Sainsbury's were fine to insure me (3 years no claims), with the exception of a £250 'young driver compulsory excess' being the only downside.

Worth bearing in mind if you're looking to buy one and are estimating your budget!

I was 22 when I bought my mk2 fabia vrs. I had 5 years no claims, no points, no problems at all. Hastings wouldnt insure me until I was 28!? (I was with them already with previous car).

I went with Premium Choice who insure younger drivers with fast cars. It was £625 fully comp but I have recently moved, which took it down to £525. I was very happy with this.

Move to a Mk2 vRS and it shoots up to 25.

The only reason i'm not constantly insured on my Monte and the vRS on the other side of the driveway.

im 19 and paid less than a grand for my mk1 vrs, although my excess is a sickening grand:|

That's just how insurance works, different companies trend for and against many different variables. Shop around as ever and find the one that is best suited to you and the car. My new car (collecting tomorrow) FML is double to insure over what my 11plate Octy vRS was and near tripple with my current insurers for no apparent reason as they quote me less as a new customer.........

I know a 19 year old with a brand new fabia vrs - £400.

Rubbish.

I'm 24 and was insured on my mk2 Octavia vRS when i was 23 for £650 a year.

I know a 19 year old with a brand new fabia vrs - £400.

That's good going if it's solely in their own name and fully comp!

It is. Fully comp, own name. Woman though.

My 19 year old male friend has a brand new polo gti for 650. His previous car, a Mr2 was 3k 3rd party. The newer the car, the lower the risk.

My Mrs was paying 400 on my old bora at 30 years old. Her new vrs is £182!

Hi,

If anyone would like a quotation or needs any help with insurance then please feel free to drop me a line.

Regards,

Dan.

I'm 18, 0 years no claims, 10 months driving experience £800! i thought that was an amazing price under the circumstances.

daz1412,

did you ask your Insurers about what they would charge for Modifications like using a Tuning Box ?

Not yet as I haven't fitted any modifications, I'd imagine it wouldn't be to bad. They seem to be pretty good when it comes to adding bits and pieces onto the quote! I can't see me modding anything until after I renew anyway!

Im 30. 10 years driving and 10 years no claims on my fab vrs estate is £270 quid. 250 excess I think. My car is stock at present.
