Win 7 NTFS Security **** up

Featured Replies

I just did a school boy error.

I was changing the NTFS file permissions for my second hard disc, and instead of changing the permission for "Users" to no access, I changed it for everyone, so now I can't get into at all, even as admin.

Any suggestions?

It's been a while since I did NTFS (Win 2K not Win 7).

Admin can change permissions on any directory as long as they can log in.

Mark Russinovich released a load of useful tools for Windows under the title SysInternals Suite.

If I recall they have some hardcore tools in there that should be able to help.

You can over ride this by taking ownership of the folder.

Cheers for the help fellas, finally sorted this. Even though my group had permissions, my user didn't.
