Nice car Rob. I was comparing these with Bmw 1 Series in Jan but never got very far with the VW as the dealer here was so useless. Did you have a long wait or did you pick up a stock model?

Nice, my mate has a GTi.

I dont know if it was an option or not but the adaptive suspension on it does a very good job at making it either comfortable or super stiff. Was very impressed with it tbh, although his is only on 18s I think.

Very nice mate, this is what i looked at before the S3. really nice car and the bigger wheels just make it.

Lovely

I think adaptive suspension is an option yes, but I'm sure Rob will probably confirm. And personally, I don't think they should be allowed to make the gti in such a dull colour. I really can't stand navy blue cars!

Yeah I'm not a fan, looks better in person but I'd still rather black.

I was rather lucky, Telford VW had one sat waiting to be a demo car with 7 Miles on the clock, in the exact specification I wanted! I was fortunate enough to get it within a week but guess build times could be up to 4+ Months with VW.

Full technical blurb can be found here:

In short, yes it does have ACC 'Adaptive Chassis Control'. This car doesn't however have the keyless entry, leather seats, rear view camera or DSG. Only bad point so far is that I can't stand the Front Assist/City Emergency Braking so turn it off.

Whilst I would love a GTI or an .:R  - (I test drove both) the car is going to be used for business and private miles going up and down from the north. Thus meaning a diesel is probably best!

Smashing Rob, lovely wheels in particular.

You lucky man you

Having just about got over my disappointment of the new generation Skoda models in general, particularly the vRS, and the huge hike in RRPs, like a lot of others I've started to look elsewhere.

Been looking at Audi and VW and I must say the new GTD looks the dogs, especially with the Santiagos.

My 8 year old daughter is helping me choose, Audi vs VW, and we're off to the local dealers tomorrow to narrow it down.

Enjoy the new addition.

Regards

Chubbs.

Looks great Rob, good work.

Wheels look very nice, remind me of an R8

Exactly what I was thinking. Suit the car very well.

These Mk7s are starting to grow on me, perhaps its because some manufacturers are moving towards this sharper design.

How are you finding the ACC? Is there much difference between the settings? What setting do you generally leave it in?

The ACC is great there is a big difference between the settings! I normally have it in Normal Mode/Eco Mode for everyday driving (Motorways) but 'sport' mode when on a nice county road!

All the settings can be changed and setup to suit your needs raning from lights, reversing sensors, steering adjustment and loads more. There is even a blank slot for you to make your own!

I hate you! (not) I'm just jealous, lol.

Stunning car mate, all the best, enjoy!

My daughter and I got round to taking a 150 bhp GT 3dr (white) and a 184 bhp GTD 5dr golf (red) out on back to back test runs over the weekend; the dealer also had black and carbon grey GTDs.

They all looked excellent and really suited the car but, personally, I wouldn't buy black (as every black car I've owned was run into); white looks shabby when dirty (I don't have as much time to clean motors with family commitments); red would save £535 but it can fade with time, so my choice would be carbon grey!

A few people know this but my black GTD has magically changed colour.....

Would love a GTD! Out of curiousity, what made you go for a GTD rather than an equivalent performance Skoda or Seat?

What hatch do skoda do in that class?

Seat do the leon, but the golfs a lot nicer car i think, both interior and exterior.

Just my opinion though :).
