For the love of cars

That's true, but I can't help feeling that an Audi Quattro (or any other 4 wheel drive rally car) would have dispensed with the stage with a lot less opposite lock and wheel turning!

Still, it's a testament to the Escort that it is still (relatively) competitive as a rally car.

On the day, Chris Meeke in the youtube clip was only 3 seconds slower than a WRC Ford Focus, or at least until he hit a rock in the undergrowth and his rally was over.  Chances are a Quattro would rule the day and be less dramatic, I have to agree.

But isn't comparing a 4wd audi with a turbo like dustbin to a normally aspirated 2wd Escort a bit like comparing a Fabia with a Mustang or TVR?

I really liked the show. You've got to remember they are trying to attract an audience so can't be too technical.

Lovely restoration of a very rare Downton Mini Cooper.

Lovely restoration of a very rare Downton Mini Cooper.

Absolutely.

How come the original Mini, just like the Mk1 escort still look just SO SO good?

Thoroughly enjoyable series.

Ant is so clever - certainly knows his cars.

Also loved the guy last night who restores the speedos etc. Sadly, last of a dying breed as no one (apprentice?) to take over his business.
