Anyone else looking forward to this starting on Sunday night? Looks a little bit like channel 4's version of wheeler dealers can't wait :)

Cheers for the heads up :)

Never heard of it

Saw it on the sky planner. Could be a good proper substitute for TG.

Me neither.

Have now though, tar.

Channel 4 @ 8pm Easter Sunday.

"Fire up the Quattro!"

Car fanatic Philip Glenister and restorer Ant Anstead present this new series in which they attempt to bring wrecked classic cars back to life.

116345352.jpg

The first episode features a Ford Escort Mexico, an ancient and now rare model which was originally designed as a family car but shed some of this unwanted reputation after winning the London to Mexico Rally in 1970. The car has been sitting in a barn for 15 years, the body is badly rusted and the engine is in pieces. This is just the sort of task that Ant relishes, however, and he gets on with the restoration while Phil explores the story behind one of the most popular British cars ever made.

Is this not going to be like Car S.O.S. on Nat Geo?

Yeah looks like its going to be a cross of several car programmes, nice to have a car programme thats not on sky for a change though :)

Only half way through but enjoying it so far. The car they are starting on is just like my first car - Mk1 Escort in Sebring Red - only that's where the similarities end unfortunately. Mine was the estate and the poverty spec 1100 Popular :( I can still dream though :)

Ah dammit, I saw the advert for that earlier and I made a mental note to remember it was on, alas I forgot, must be nearly finished now.

Channel 4 + 1?

I'm watching it as I love MKI Escorts but Edd is still the top man - Wheeler Dealers - the original and the best as far as I'm concerned.

ive been really impressed so far, just a shame it has the usual Channel 4 Adverts!

That was pretty good.

Not as much actually doing the car up as if of liked to see though. And i thought his driving at the start was pretty horrific haha.

I'm looking forward to the series 1 landy next week non the less :).

Noticed that - and I never even watched Life on Mars

Loved the final result and seeing all the cars chasing round at the end. It's just a few weeks short of 30 years since I collected my Escort and I still miss it - still my favourite colour of any car I've had.

haha, I didn't think if that either, that shows how little tv I watch. I'll see if I can nudge a tiny bit of sofa space from the dog now then.

Landys are another nostalgia car for me as my Saturday (and then first full time) job was working on them (tropicalising them ready for export to Africa). We had one of the first 110 double-cab pickups (the 127" crewcab) out of Solihull, though I did see the tail end of the old 88/108s. Looking forward to it.

We had a 110 too, it was a red county station wagon, very early one as it had sliding windows, A999TMB iirc, it was revolutionary after a series 3 lwb van.

Watxhing it just now and i quite like it...much better than wheeler dealers with that **** ed china

I dont mind wheeler dealers, but i do wonder what he hell theyre playing at sometimes.

They put a snake skin wrap on a mazda rx7 last time i watched it. It looked ridiculous.

Then the guy who they bought it off bought it back for about £4k (i think it was) more

WTF.

The problem with Wheeler Dealers is while it shows quite alot of the dirty work with the nuts and bolts, you do have to deal with Mr Brewer....

He is for me, the biggest problem with that program!

I would like to have seen more of the nuts and bolts on this but even so i still think it was a great first episode.

It was quite good still like wheeler dealers though. Was very worried when they started talking about roll cages and making it a rally car :S. Glad they went mostly down making it look as standard/ original as possible.

I wonder how intentional the Gordons Gin advert was lol.
