1.2 TSi + Panoramic sunroof + spacesaver spare wheel

Featured Replies

The catalogue states you cannot order, from the factory, the 1.2TSi with Panoramic sunroof and the space saver spare wheel.

What does the spare wheel do to hinder the sunroof.

Has anyone come across this before and fitted one.

I think it's all to do with the emissions, the extra weight of the glass roof and spare wheel would effect rating. Nothing to stop the dealer ordering the spare wheel kit and fitting it before collection, in fact I think any dealer worth his salt would do this for you.

The VED rate for a vehicle is (simplistically) based on a ratio of the weight and the amount of emissions. By adding the Velux window and/or the spare wheel would have put it into the next rate, therefore Skoda will not include those items as available on certain models. As said, there is nothing stopping you adding the spare wheel kit after purchase.

Other manufacturers do the same thing.

many thanks, sounds correct.

Yet, I can have a tow bar fitted at the factory, which by no means adds the weight there and then, but does mean I can run with a trailer fitted permanently and be well outside the VED rate. It's a funny old world.

It used to be the 1.2 dsg that couldn't have sunroof and spare wheel and heated windscreen all added due to weight.

I have all of the above on my 1.2 manual as it was all allowed pre FL.

Maybe the FL is heavier?
