Farewell for now

Featured Replies

I have my last commute tomorrow in my Mk 2 vRS Octavia . I've loved the DSG box.

It has been faultless from 15,000 to 49,000 miles in just over 2 years.

I tend to bounce between Skoda and BMW so getting my new 3 series on Friday.

I will have a spare wheel kit and winter wheels to sell but I will put them on the for sale section when I renew my freedom membership.

I'll keep an eye on the forum

All the best

Good luck! Enjoy the Beemer.

Hope to see u back soon!

You are one of our long-term members so I would hope that you will return to the fold due course. :) What spec BMW did you opt for?

This weekend might be my last weekend with my Octavia although it will be staying in the company I work for. I put a deposit last week on a 2008 Volvo S80 D5 Se Lux Geartronic and should be picking it up on Saturday. I will still be hanging around because my boss's wife will be driving my Octy and it has 641,000kms on it now so now doubt I will need help from time to time!!!!!

Went for a 335d xDrive saloon. White, red leather, M Sport plus pack, professional nav, visibility pack and Harman kardon sound system.

Pick it up tomorrow

Nice choice! Enjoy the Beemer, I'm sure you will :)

Post some pics up when you've collected

Wow, that almost sounds like the perfect car. I would imagine the Harmon Kardon sound system is awsome.

Enjoy the car........I am officially jealous!!!

Slightly miffed to have to pay for an adjustable arm rest (like I currently have on Octavia). Also getting Heated Seats, lumbar support, reversing camera, adaptive M sport suspension and folding mirrors.

Can't wait!

Love the sound of that, a touring one of those to that spec or thereabouts probably my ideal family car of the moment; 313ps, 0-62 in 4.9 secs and 52mpg potential....even low 40's real world its impressive stuff.

Hope you got yourself a healthy discount on list on that bad-boy though as a UK spec car like that would list not far off £50k! A vRS is a vastly cheaper car but money no object be my choice too!

Absolutely fantastic. Enjoy it.

What a beaut! No idea how jealous I am!!

Beast, I need to do the lotto.

Well I said I would be back. Picking up new vRS mark 3 tomorrow!

just make sure they installed the indicators correctly..they have a habit of not working at all...

And keep on top of those diamond cut wheels, they perish badly and quickly, working for Bmw we see so many, weve just fitted the carbon spoiler pack and uprated exhaust to one exactly like yours except 335 petrol, as other poster said that in a tourer would be perfect car

one of them did corrode around the centre cap - replaced under warranty - as you say, a known fault.

But I don't need to worry about that now that this bad boy is on my driveway

Rallye Green VRS looks awesome! Welcome back! How does it compare to the 335d? Not only from a car/engine point of view, but also inside and spec? Looks like you had a good spec with Pro Nav, Xenons and Harmon Kardon.

I had a 330d with the N57 3.0 diesel and it was pretty much the perfect "any occasion" car; quick and economical. Only sold it because it wasn't practical (2 door coupe) but still occasionally miss it.

Nice! How does it compare to the Beamer?

What a beauty. Easy to find in the car park :D

Very happy to be back in Skoda fold so far.

Obviously being about 120bhp down, the performance difference is noticeable but the 4X4 means with the DSG box, you can just point and squirt and it feels quick enough to keep me interested. The VAG 2 litre diesel is much more refined than the BMW equivalent. The BW ZF gearbox is a bit smoother than the DSG box.

Even though I had the adaptive suspension, I was never that impressed with the handling. So much so that I put AC Schnitzer springs on it - this helped but the damping just felt poor, despite adaptive setup. Much happier with vRS passive set up. The nose is noticeably more nimble too, presumably as no big heavy 3 litre lump in the octavia.

I really missed the practicality of the octavia - that's where the BMW really falls short.

The leather on the vRS is much more comfortable, BMW dakota leather is a bit hippo hide.

The BMW infotainment system is second to none, I've got Amundsen and it's pretty good, but the interface and execution of Pro Nav is second to none.

I really like having a large digital speed readout in new car.

BMW was a great car, but left me a bit cold, whereas I'm already starting to have unnatural feelings towards my new car.

Glad to be back.
