Rear seat 12v socket?

Featured Replies

Quick question - does the O3 have a rear 12v socket which rear passengers can use? In the Superb it is located at the rear of the front armrest/jumbo box as per the picture below.

Mine does not.

No, you can only get an optional 230V socket (150W). I don't know if you can get it in the UK since you use a different type of plug.

So if an owner wanted to fit portable TV screens in the rear of the vehicle, would power have to be taken from the front 12v socket?

There's one in the boot of the estate, not sure about the hatch.

Only on the Estate IIRC.

Hatch also has a 12v socket in the boot (or at least mine does).

Elegance hatch certainly has a 12v in the boot.

The only way would be to wire in a new 12vsocket and put a lead out from behind the glove box to under the front seats where you could mount a socket. The plastic trim around the lower center console comes off with 1 torx screw fairly easily and could be fed under that.

OK the consensus appears to be no 12v socket in the rear passenger area, possibly one in boot (if Elegance spec) and one in front driver area.

Thanks.

Agreed. My Elegance Hatch has a Front and boot socket, but nothing for the rear passengers, although there is a ash tray, which is usually accompanied by a socket...never mind. they are always live too, in case you were not aware. Perfect for flattening your battery.

When I was looking at getting mine, I was looking at the new mondeo, and thatt has loads of sockets. one at the front under climate controls, one in the centre armrest storage area, one in usualy area between front seats at eh back for rear passengers, and one in the book. could charge alsorts in that car

My VRS Hatch has one in the boot....

Yep my vrs hatch has one in the boot. To run my sons screen I have an extension cord which comes from the boot and through the rear seats (wire narrow enough) into the back. Created no more trailing cable than when it was plugged into a socket in the rear ashtray/cubby on my old car.

Mounting the screen on the back of the vrs seat headrest though is not easy.....

I have the 12 plate elegance and mine doesn't have a 1wv socket fitted in the boot

Is a 12 plate a Mk3 or a Mk2?

My 15 plate Elegance definitely has a 12V socket in the boot, used it many times for a cool box and use it for my electric tyre pump.
