Awesome GTI Rolling Road Day 26/4/13 (Fabia VRS CTHE)

Featured Replies

These are the BHP and torque figures from my rolling road at Awesome GTI for my 2013 Fabia VRS CTHE bog standard. :hi:

Pleased with the BHP and also the torque figures which are higher than some VRS are producing with a tuning box.

Also, spoke with the technician at Awesome GTI. APR will have Stage 1 software for CTHE engine codes soon, "hopefully in the next few weeks" for anyone interested.

Did anyone else go? If so, post your figures. :hi:

  • Gone a bit OT there. CTHE for my money is now RR and track proven to put out more than 180ps. Oh and Fabia vRS ARE fast cars (fact) don't let people tell you otherwise

So 193 hp between about 5500 and 6500 rpm?

Only a few days ago on here I said my CTHE felt like 200 hp,so not far off.

Great engine when running correctly but with the limitations of the chassis and the engine's potential for failure I would not dream of tuning for more power.

It's a cracking engine/gearbox combo (assuming its all working as intended) it really does deserve a better chassis and brake setup to complement though. For road use it is plenty fast enough, just needs the chassis sorting. Good BHP that!

Good figures. Is the torque in lbs ft or Nm?

That's a great figure! No excuseses  for not keeping up with my 11 year old 190bhp diesel now lol!

I have done 8600 miles and had no problems I will not be remapping it because it is  quick enough

Very impressive that bud. Need to get my 2014 on the rollers. Only has 700 miles on the clock so be a few months yet.

I take it the 2014 VRS is the CTHE engine?

Phil.

Yep. Changed late 2012 I believe.

Good figures, I'm slightly gutted I've got a CAVE now :-(

Put a TMC box on it , it'll give 200bhp :)

What 0-60 time do you reckon it'll do with 194 as standard.

Happy with the power of my 2013 one but more is always better.

Does it really matter, do you often go full bore from just 0-60 or 62 mph?

It should be pretty much the same as Tuning Box or Stage 1 CAVE, under 6.5 seconds (6.2 Seconds.)

Tyres matter.

(the old engine standard is around 6.7 - 6.9 seconds)

0-70 mph Standard CAVE, 8.8 seconds

0-70 mph Stage 1 CAVE, 7.8 seconds

0-80 mph Standard CAVE, 11.1 seconds

0-80 mph Stage 1 CAVE , 9.8 seconds

Just out of interest, it's a useful comparative figure for looking at other cars.

Good figures, doesn't suprise me at all because I have just come back from castle coomb with my standard engine cthe, and followed two cave engined cars onto the track, one remapped, and was faster than both if them ;) I have a vid, ill post it up tomorow when I get in!

You were very quick Dave, but I think there was far more going on than a comparison between our engines.

Little unfair to judge on my first 15 minutes of track time in the car on road tyres and brand new not bedded in brake pads, first half of which I spent in S mode with traction control on :)

I was done by a stock CAVE car too remember :D

But no shame in that, by the end of the open sessions I know that I was a lot quicker than when I started.

Lots of fun had, hope we see more Mk2's on track next track meet

How was Th3Grinch's replacement engine performing?

bobnaldo,

they would be more useful as comparisons if they were even near accurate.

VW Group just make sure the more expensive models have better figures than cheaper ones.

No idea how their Real World out of a building testing takes place.

It would be interesting to see a Manufacturer showing them doing 0- 100 km (62 MPH) testing.

How was Th3Grinch's replacement engine.

Rick wasn't on track but I gather his engine was ok.

........he now has suspension trouble

??

Why did you have TC on, did you forget to switch off?

VW Figures for the Fabia Polo Seat.

178 BHP 184LBS FT Torque or

180PS     250 NM Torque

My 2013 fabia vrs CTHE made

193BHP and 236LBS FT Torque

195 PS  and 320 NM

Clearly the power is up by 15 BHP and torque is up by 52LBS.

Reports in the press state that the new polo gti 2015 will have a power increase from 180ps to 192ps for the same 1.4 twincharger engine. Are we CTHE owners the VW ginnee pigs for testing the new 192 PS engine?

The conspiracy deepens. :hi:

Also more BHP equals more top end, more Torque equals stronger and better acelaration. It's WIN WIN what more can we ask for.

They do not say the same engine, they say a 1.4 TSI etc, but they can be without Superchargers.

It could be Turbo & ACT.

"Compared to the current car, the revamped Polo GTI will also benefit from the power upgrade

that takes its 1.4 litre four cylinder engine from 177bhp to 189 bhp."

Autocar says.

It will more than likely have to be a Euro 6 Emission Engine.

& it was Euro 5 being introduced in 2009 that failed,

& new engine management in 2012 to reduce the problems with the CAVE,

& it also reduced Emissions and improved efficiency.

We had a Sweepy the other day, sharkrider and me,

it was £2 to charity for those that guessed wrong.

i said on 99 ron Momentum 188 bhp max & he said 189 bhp.

I cheated,

i already knew a low mileage CTHE could produce near that on 99 ron.

But we have been talking about it since some that had a Early vRS changed to the CTHE,

What petrol did you have in?

err... Suspension and brakes to compliment the beaut under the bonnet maybe.

I think as most are finding out that over the counter bolt on parts transform the chassis to be better in all areas so it is possible to have a hot hatch with good handling and retain or possibly even improved ride quality, ashame that there is no recognised bolt on brake package (please correct if I'm wrong) Imo vag should offer an rs/cup type option, with 5/10 extra BHP, propper brakes, suspension and an esp off button, the engine deserves it!
