To Debadge or not to debadge... That is the question

Featured Replies

Cant make my mind up.

I do like the chrome of the superb bit against the alloys, side strip and roof rails, but I also like the clean look too

Obviously cleaning and polishing is easier with them removed...

Should I, shouldn't I... just can't decide

Thoughts?

You've surprised me there mate

Would have said a detailer would prefer them off (from a easier to clean point of view)

If it was me id leave the badges inplace

From the not-so-recent past when the fashion for BMW 3 series 1.8 owners was to de-badge, whenever I see a de-badged model of any kind now i always think:

"There goes somebody who could only afford / who's Boss would only provide the cheapest base model, and they're trying to kid us it's something better."

So, for those of you in the photos above, it's fairly obvious that whatever you claim, you are all driving S trim model, 1.4 TSI's. - Cheapskates !!!

Totally agree with BJM, it's a crap BMW owners trick, although they usually stick an M on the boot to emphasise their shortcomings :-)

Just look SO wrong de-badged imo.

Rear wiper on the estates next no doubt?

I was thinking the same, but I also like the fact that it says 4x4 V6!

Only a hardcore Skoda fan could tell if it was a 2.0tsi/ 3.6v6 if it was debadged.

They could confirm it would be the v6 just by looking at the front breaks, It's a pain in the backside to clean around the badges yes, but I also like the typo too..

The new font on the FL superb looks awful though I think it's because there's not much room and it's just been filled with letters...!

and then I saw this.... :drunk:

to answer your question umm... both look good! But if you debadge it non skoda people will always ask you if it's an Octavia! :giggle:

The beauty of t'internet....1000 different opinions.  On mine, the V6 and 4x4 badges were the first to go, followed by a

quick coat of Plastidip for anything else with chrome-effect

Each to their own...

Looks mean, are they new pipes?

Well Spotted - Yep - I has a stainless cat-back section made here http://www.jpexhausts.co.uk/

Makes it sound like a proper V6...

The car is yours - not every one else's

The beauty of your car is in your eyes - not every one else s

So are u to de-badge or not for others (and not yourself)?

That is the question...

I have a terrible time trying to identify superbs against octavias, from the front I look for the chrome lamp washers, from the rear I cant tell if I cant read the badge.

So de badge and make the game harder :hi:

Personally I wouldn't as it looks like the car is not original and may have had panels replaced etc.  If you do decide to go down that road make sure you hold on to the badges when it comes to trade in time - you don't want somebody questioning if you replaced panels or if it was crashed!

Debadge IMO. I do it with everyone of mine too.

I see no point in them at all. You know what you drive, don't you? :)

Thanks for the input everyone, its much appreciated

Some good points raised, both for and against.

Going to mull it over for a while

I thought that was the point

Else wot wud u do with your day?

:-)

I have "debadged" the TDI by speccing.

I left the "Superb" on as I like the central positioning and the font, it's very elegant and suits the back of the tailgate nicely - It is a sedan.

If I would have bought a FL version, I would have debadged it immediately, as I totaly hate the guy who thought that FONT and that SIZE would do this car any good. It's totally screaming "look at me, be sure I'm a SUPERB". Why does it had to be with CAPS on ???

Haha shouting SKODA SUPERB every time someone reads it!?
