1 st service

Featured Replies

Just had my first service and have to say not that impressed, I need a new front shock absorber ( I find this hard to believe on a year old car)

I also need a new rain sensor and after the dealers 3rd attempt my sat nav still doesn't display the road speed limit.

This is all a bit worrying as my old mk2 never need any done in 60k and I have never had a shock absorber fitted to a car in my life, has the build quality gone down hill?

A new shock on a 1 year old car???

My shocks on my MKII lasted over 150K and 8 years, and they still weren't failing MoT's, they just felt worn when driven reasonably hard.

Oh, and make sure they replace shock absorbers as a pair.

Sorry to hear of that, however I have friends with both BMW's and Mercedes needing new shocks around 1-1.5 years old, largely down to the good old pot hold roads with have here in the UK. My mate with the BMW had to have a new alloy too as it had cracked!!

Ouch.  Got me worried about my vRS now - swmbo seems to manage to hit every pot hole on the road "I didn't see it" is the usual cry.

Any idea of how much it's going to hit you for?

and I take it that they put it down to wear and tear and exclude it from the warranty?  Or did they say 'they shouldn't fail in a year...it must be faulty, have one on us'?

It's being done under warranty, I was just concerned why it's gone so early in the cars life. When I have never had one fail in over 20 years of driving.

Does everyone agree I should push to have them changed as a pair ?

Totally agree to them being changed as a pair,...

Agree change as a pair if at all possible. Just had my first service as well, nothing to declare though

It's being done under warranty,

 phew!
