I have a popped tweeter in my A pillar. Does anybody know the dimensions of the tweeters and also the door speakers so I can upgrade them to some nice aftermarket ones.

1inch tweeters and 6.5" in the doors.

Ill be leaving it to the professionals when i do mine. Been quoted £300 all in for decent speakers

As above. Tweeters are easy but the door speakers have to be drilled out (riveted), and a spacer inserted before the new ones can go in.

Wiring is simple if you go for components with built in crossovers, but anything with a crossover unit will need a bit more thought as the crossover will need to be hidden somewhere in the dash and new wires run to the tweeters.

If you just need to replace a tweeter you can buy the A pillar with the tweeter already 'stuck' on. only cost me about £12 for a new A pillar with the built in tweeter. The tweeter wire just clips on.

 

edit: That was about 2 years ago from the dealers, probably costs a bit more now.

You mean a in line filter... you can't get built in crossovers. That's if you are running them passively rather than using x-overs from amp/processor.

Good luck if you're visiting them....you can buy better for that price... they'll need an amp to get the best out of them, don't forget sound deadening, and watch they don't hack anything.

All fitted. Watched them do the lot. I never leave my car in hands if a stranger. Lol. Sound clear and crisp. I know some who used to work there so I got them cheaper than normal. Have no amp fitted to them. Just wanted better sound. I use my car for driving tuition so didn't see the point spending more on an amp if it gets damaged with my roof sign in the boot otherwise I would have purchased one without a doubt.

Could always make a cover/grille over the amp, or hide it.

Hi, sorry I haven't been on here for a while. It took them just over 3 hours to do the lot. Removal of pillars and door cards. Removal of speakers took a while. After that it was all go. Really impressed with it. I just wanted better speakers to handle a good blast now and then. No amps fitted. They still are nice and very loud. Very crisp.

Id say sound deadening is a must if your going to the effort of fitting new speakers.

Im going to buy a bulk pack for £150 at some point. I should be able to do all the doors, boot and under the rear seats with that.

If your just after doing a door, my local car stereo specialists charges £25 for enough to do one door. Fitting yourself.

Sorry I didn't take any pic. My phone batt life is crap. Jail broken iphone 5. For some reason I open camera and around 30% batt life the phone just dies on me.

Theres next to no sound deadening in the fabia's mate. They arent the best cars for refinement at all.

Also. As far as i am aware, all fabias have the same speakers in, no matter what headunit you choose. The only difference is you get rear speakers on anything higher than an 's'

The sound specialist guy told me sound deadening is the best thing you can do. For whst it costs, its silly not to add it while youve got the door card off, and it makes a vast improvement.

You prob right. But I'm quite happy with the way it is. When they told me that you kinda take their word for it as they prob do things like that all day. I prob came across someone that didn't want to do anymore work than he needed to. Lazy git. Lol

I know for next time and will defo have sound deadening done.
