2009 Octavia Scout TDi hesitant

Featured Replies

Hi All, I have a 2009 Octavia Scout 2ltr TDi 4x4 with a BMM engine, its always been hesitant when setting off and sometimes it even stalled, when it was under warrenty the garage had a go at fixing it and in the end said it was characteristic of the car, I think the problem was the emissions and the EGR valve and if so is it not the same problems that the MK1 Fabia VRS had and the cure was to fit a flange inside the air inlet to the EGR valve which had a smaller hole drilled in it ? I have found that if I hold down the throttle down to the floor whilst holding the brake pedal with the ignition on but without the engine running it must reset the ECU and it runs fine for a bit, I presume the ECU is 'learning' the way I drive and trying to lower my emissions and I wonder if I can stop it 'learning'. cheers - Stuart

It shouldnt be hesitant. The ECU is programmed to hold back a little on hard acceleration to protect the DPF.

I would go back to basics, make sure all the service items (Fuel and air filters especially) have been done.

Check for air leaks in the fuel system.

If this doesn't help perhaps a forum member with diagnostics could scan it for you.

Hi Mark, thanks for the reply, I have scanned the car and it has no faults showing, driving the car tonight I can feel it jerking as it pulls off now and again, can I reset it to basics with VCDS and if so how ? might go out now and do another scan, cheers - Stuart

Characteristic, my posterior is it. My car, which has the same doesn't do anything like that.

Back to the dealer, drop it off, jump in a courtesy car and ask them to ring you when its fixed.
