Approved Used Skoda appears to have been painted- advice

Featured Replies

Hey folks,

Been meaning to ask this for a couple of weeks.

When I last washed and polished the car I noticed that on the N/S rear panel (behind rear door) appears to have possible been sprayed at some point.

It has a very very slight orange peel kind of look to it compared to the other side.

We bought the car as an approved skoda in February 2013.

We were not informed of any repair work that had been carried out on the car but I think a good inspection of the car by them they maybe should have spotted this.

Can anyone offer any advice as to what to do?

I'm not too bothered on the face of it as if it is a repair it's very good and has taken me a year to spot! But my main concern is that should we ever come to having any corrosion problems etc Skoda are going to reject it straight away because it's been repaired.

Many thanks.

Phil

Did you ask if it had been repaired when you bought it?  They only have to tell you if you ask otherwise they're commiting fraud, unless they did't even know.

I bought an "approved used" ex-demo 2011 vRS from a main dealers near chester, they had owned it since new and I asked if it had ever been repaired, they told me no.  While washing it the weekend after i'd collected it I found the whole rear quarter had been painted and not amazingly well.  Took it back and asked the question again only to find one of their salesman hand bumped it and the rear quarter had been repainted which they all had on file.  So I told them i no longer wanted the car and they needed to find me another which they weren't too keen on until I mentioned the Sales of Goods act and I believe they'd committed fraud.  4 weeks later I was in a better spec'd lower mileage vRS for no more money.

Some brand new cars have repairs. They have bodyshops at the docks.

We didn't ask if it had been repaired. Had a good look and it looked in really good condition (still is apart from a couple of stone chips and a mark on the rear bumper).

Like I say I'm not too worried. It's on a flat panel and there's no blend lines etc and doesn't go onto any seems etc so is a top job if it is a repair.
