Seat Belts

Featured Replies

Are the seat belts different between the 3 and 5 door versions?

I ask as SWMBO wants me to make her up a coloured kit, so am on the hunt in breakers.... dont want to buy a set that wont fit after I'm done :)

Thanks

Well, in the first place I WOULD NOT buy seat belts from a breakers. How will you tell if they've been stretched in a crash?

Whaaaat??? :o :o  Am I reading that right - you want to change the seat belts?  Seems a bit extreme and a tad unecessary but as KenOneill says DON'T go second hand, it's crazy, a sure-fire warranty no-no and possibly downright dangerous!

If however, you still want to change them I have a friend that restores cars and she uses these guys http://www.quickfitsbs.com/index.php

They can do re-webbing in pretty much any colour, even neon pink but it isn't cheap.

Personally I'd get some belt covers to stop the blighters chafing due to the lack of height adjusters - there are loads of funky designs available.

Easy.

1. Dont buy a car with a serious impact

2. Dont buy a car with any impact near to the seatbelt mechanisms

3. Replace the webbing

Woah, calm down there cowboy   (or cowgirl.... modern age and all that)

I've been doing this for quite a while with MG's (convertibles and Z-Cars)..... I appreciate the well-meaning concern, but the fact is that a part is a part, and if built / reconditioned to the correct specification and standard (and in this case, using vehicle grade webbing) then all is fine. However, normally the part numbers change for the rear belt units between 3 or 5 door cars.

Of course it invalidates the warranty, but then so does a remap, tuning box, adding coilovers or pretty much allowing Bossfox to look at one

If you're going to do all that, why not just replace the webbing on the belts you've got?

Also, o/t but whilst the spelling is unusual, I'd expect "Allicia" to be a girl's name.

Just so the car isn't off the road whilst the belts are being made up.

As for names.... I've been caught out before
