Does 130mph = 4.500 RPM for Fabia VRS MK1 ?

Featured Replies

Just given the old girl a flat-out pedal to the floor on the a flat surface and kept it there.

Result 132mph on Speedo and Rev counter reading exactly 4000 rpm..

Can anyone verify the same/different, thanks..

Car bog standard, except for a pair of front mud-flaps and a sunroof from new..LOL

I might be wrong but I think you need a remap to fully utilise the last 500rpm.

132mph in a fabia vrs must be scary as hell!!!

You should of said this happened on your "private runway" that you own before people start crying.

I have always wondered would more bhp / torque in these cars = higher top speed or is it limited by gear ratios ?

On the longer box you hit max mph in 5th. No need for 6th.

im 210bhp and have had 145 nearly 150 out of mine

I know mine decided that it wasnt speed limited once. Dont know how or why and its only done it once. Got higher than 130 on my private test track

I got to 115ish on my uncles grans runway in Germany and it didn't feel too bad

I got banned @ 119mph so think on

;)

Standard or even mapped fabia hits a wall at 130mph. The small blower runs out of puff and its physically impossible to get any more. Unless you drive it off a cliff.

Bigger blower you'll be near 150

But the question is why? I was stupid a few years ago and paid the price. I dont even go to 3 figures any more. Its pointless (on the road anyway)

Bear in mind the speedo will be fairly inaccurate over 100mph... it is in most cars. If you want to do a true high speed run, on a private road of course, the GPS reading from a sat nav or similar is accurate to within 2-3mph. Also the 'book' top speed of some cars is tested on a rolling road so again in the real world you may not get near it due to wind resistance.

Its very rare I see triple digits on my speedo, only when on track, but there seems to be something stopping it / acceleration slows when it reaches 120ish. This despite having over double the original bhp which is why I asked is it down to the gear ratios.

When you see videos of petrol motors with such bhp gains they seem to be pulling much higher top speeds :(

1st - 3rd are pretty bang on from experience  . Though I rarely hit the limiter in 3rd as I get more ooomph changing upto 4th lol. 4th Usually dies down at around 115/120 and 5th well who knows

When mine hits 115-120 it runs out of legs , my old charged type r would hit 155 + until my run way ran out of Tarmac

lots and lots of private runways.

I noticed that also. IMO top end speed is quite boring... I enjoy the launch more than anything.

In my early vRS with the longer ratio gearbox, if I had enough power 4750 rpm in 6th would mean nearly 180mph.

You shouldn't be feeling that at 120mph Joel with your power/set up :(

Mine will do the clock quite easily :)

Think I had mine to 125mph on a track day once.

I've found with my own once I hit 110ish it seems to run outta legs, but if I ease off ever so slightly on the throttle pedal it picks up once again albeit slowly

When I've taken mine over to Europe, I found mine struggled past 110/15, up to 120 and thought it would take an age to max it so gave up.

Not been abroad since the power increase to see how things have changed with a stronger blower and FMIC under the hood so honestly don't know

I'd be interested to know what these top speeds were 'actual', i.e. GPS, rather than from a speedo that over reads.

I did a 6th gear pull from 70 to 125ish before backing off and it pulled hard all the way round so seems odd yours slows down Joel. Think that's the only time I've gone into triple figures in it as jase said your into instant ban territory but seeing as I used the top gear track to do it I would of been ok ;)

I daren't put my foot to floor for as long as possible - scared of blowing a pipe!

And, as someone else said, when do I need to go much over 70 in England anyway?

I too hit the 110mph very quickly but then, the next 2/3 miles crawled up to the max 132 mph..but as said just kept the foot planted on the floor..

Got 139mph on a tomtom in my old Ibiza fr pd130 hybrid. **** out then but she was still pulling along!
