Noisy shock absorbers

Featured Replies

I have a Octy3 1.6 TDI SE. The reg date is June 13. I like the car , but, I don't think the shock absorbers are working properly. There seems a pattering noise across most surfaces. That turns into a secondary rattle on rough surfaces. I took the car back to the Skoda dealer , the service manager sat in the car as I drove around a assortment of road surfaces. Funny , the car was a lot better while he was in the car. Possibly acceptable. His opinion was this models suspension is stiffer and was ok.  So I went away to try and live with it. However  I try and imagine the noise is not there but it intrudes to the point where your in no doubt theirs something wrong. I will return the car back to  the dealer and get him to drive it by himself. I have also noticed its worse when cold and improves as the car get warmer. Does or has other mk3 owners have or are having the same problems.

Is the wrong spec of oil used at manufacture  causing the transfer valves within the shock absorber to not work quick enough. Has  Skoda got a possible recall

I'm interested in other mk3 owners opinions. Or is it just my car.

No unusual noises from mine registered in April 2013

The official cure is to buy 20 cans of expanding foam filler, and use it in your boot.

Not recommended if you have Canton though.
