Bloody Cheap Computer - Be Quick Though

Well' date=' i missed out this time, but if anybody notices a really cheap laptop, I'd like one.

Dell often make mistakes or allow some silly offers - one will turn up eventually although it has been a little quiet recently. I did read there is a guy who has a spreadsheet or something that will calculate deals from the Dell website and then the deals are published from that.

Hmmm. This was with my order confirmation

We have received your order.

We will send you a written Order Confirmation to confirm acceptance of your order or will contact you if there is a problem with your order. The Order Confirmation will contain your Order Number and the final purchase amount pending any charges resulting from the verification of the online pricing of your order. Please note that Dell will not be responsible for typographical' date=' pricing or other errors and reserves the right to cancel any orders based on such errors.[/b']

I don't like that last bit! :(

Well, we'll see. If the worst comes to the worst, nothing's lost :D

i can't see how they can not sell you at the price shown, onsumer law and all that.

kind of like saying ok i'll stab you but you die i can't be held responsible. the laws the law

Dell and the like have been through this before though; there's been countless high-publicity pricing errors like this. The likes of Currys and Dixons online spring to mind.

That's why the e-tailers now put that disclaimer at the end of orders, which allows them to pull out if there's been a pricing error or similar. As has been mentioned, nothing's lost if the deal doesn't happen :)

the laws the law (sic)

Indeed it is, but it's in their favour. I'm not sure, though, whether Dell would argue over a couple of hundred or thousand pounds. Surely their reputation is worth more than that?

Edit: Beaten to it by Steve - "what he said"

Will watch this one with interest, however it turns out. Again, as has been said - Dell have a habit of doing this!

Anyone know what the total price should be really? Might make it easier to work out that chances of the deal coming through. I would agree if there's not much difference in it, as far as Dell are concerned, there'll be more chance.

Steve

I think it should be the bad side of

i can't see how they can not sell you at the price shown' date=' onsumer law and all that.

Not quite - they're not allowed to sell you something *not* at the advertised price, but they are allowed to refuse to sell it if they don't want to. Just because you order something doesn't mean they have to agree to sell it.

As to whether Dell honours these orders or not...depends why they were priced like that. If it was due to error, I'd be surprised if they do...really, it wouldn't be any skin off their nose. If it's due to overstock and it's cheaper to get rid of them at that price than to find alternative storage or crush them (it does happen), then they will honour it...

Rob.

Anyone heard anything from Dell?

Steve

Not apart from the initial e-mail

if anyone fancies selling one for a modest profit let me know - I still want something for my parents/sister - so I can email grand kids pics etc

Not heard anything either yet. :)

Waiting for them to take the money now ;) lol

Think it's gone now :(

Think it's gone now :(

Jase's money, or the deal?

Steve

Jase's money' date=' or the deal?

Steve[/quote']

The deal was stopped last night, but I do hope they take my money and I get what I ordered. :)

The deal was stopped last night...

I think you'll find I was the first on here to try it out, so I know it was available for a while - see post #2 :P

Well, fingers crossed :coder:
