PD130 MPG what do you get?

Featured Replies

Hi All,

My partner has the Seat Ibiza 1.9 TDI PD and its been mapped supposedly to around 160BHP ( Done when we purchased it) it really does go very well. With really careful driving we are only getting around 40 - 43 MPG. My skoda octavia estate 110 mapped to 140BHP does over 50 MPG.  What the usual MPG for these PD engines?

Thanks

Is that brim to brim calculations, round town, motorway driving?!?

My round town consumption was always around 40 ish but only about 43 odd on a run at about 70mph. This obviously is not right for this engine but never really understood exactly what the issue was. (All brim to brim calculations of fuel app)

I've now removed my old smic for an fmic, which did improve things slightly, but nowhere near enough for me.

Then, when I had her up in the air at a mates garage I noticed a build up of soot on my downpipe, and duly replaced this and my standard turbo, mapped etc and now see much better consumption. I'm now hitting 60+ on the motorway and 45 round town when not pressing on, although these are only trip computer figures and not had long enough to calculate properly, but never ever saw anything close this previously on the dash, so we'll see.

mid 40's round town 50-60 on the motorway

See my signature for my Fabia's mpg over 60,000+ miles.

Perhaps there is nothing wrong then, these engines perhaps not as good MPG as the older style used in the Octavia :)  We are getting around 45 on motorway, and about 39 40 in general driving.

Something is definitely wrong if 45 on the motorway is your highest. Same engine and over 30 ish miles I got..

You can get extremely high MPG my normal blasting about town would always return 50mpg. On a careful run this is possible.

Ok well what can cause this then??

Well mine was either the downpipe, turbo, smic or the map sensor. All have been changed and I'm where I feel I should be, albeit I'm running a little more power.
