Citigo Brodit and other Mods

Featured Replies

Afternoon all.

I've got a Citigo Sport in Red, looks pretty good stock, but thinking of making some mods to it. So far I've replaced the DRLs with MTECs, and I've got some NIghtbreakers inbound for the headlights. Any other recommended mods? Strongly considering the stubby aerial, was also thinking about replacing the reversing lights with something brighter?

Also, I've ordered a Brodit with an Active Mount for fixed installation. Anyone got any ideas of how to get the wire inside the dash without damaging it? Or given that it'll be fairly close to the steering column, should I just get the cable to follow the contours of the interior and go straight to the fuse box? Any further advice on fitting/installation would be very welcome, as it's my first time trying something like this!

Thanks all.

There is a fuse box (FB) on the left hand side of the dash (Open the passengers door and you can see the access hatch for the fuse box) you could then remove the glove box and get access to the back of the FB. Try Vehicle wiring products for connectors that could be used in the FB. I am fitting a THB Bury series 9 phone cradle to our Citigo with the Brodit clip.this will allow me to charge my phone and increase the reception as you can attach a phone aerial.

Stubby aerial looks much better with no loss of reception. Mine is OEM part.

The part number is:

6R0 035 849

Retails at £14.99 incl vat :)

Ahh ok - would you be able to point me towards what connectors I need etc? This is my first time modding a car at all, and I don't have much experience with electronics!

Awesome, thank you! Will contact the dealer when I've got some more wonga, need to speak to them about a PID update to try and sort the Bluetooth issues as it is!

Have a look at your fuse box. you will be looking for a spare fuse position with a metal contact on one side ( see if it has 12 volts when the ignition is on (not permanent live)). See pic. you can get connectors to insert from the back of the fuse box from Vehicle wiring products.

If you don't have much experience I would suggest you get someone who does to help

Got it in now, looks good! Thank you for the advice!

My only issue with the Brodit is that it holds the phone in such a way that, no matter where you position it, it blocks out a part of the radio. I've now got it over to the left hand side, as this is where I find it easiest to use, but it blocks the power/volume button somewhat. But hey ho, it works a treat!

Got the Navigon version. Not sure of software version, and fairly frequently my phone (Nexus 5 on Android 4) will think it's connected to the car, but the car won't be able to find it to connect to

So I've put in my brodit quite nicely (pictures to follow) and have got MTEC DRLs and Osram Nightbreaker Unlimiteds for headlights. As I checked the Osrams, I noticed that the 'DRL' filament of the MTECs has blown already, and its been in under a fortnight. Pretty fuming with that!
