Few questions/niggles

Featured Replies

Where do you guys who have BKR7E plugs get them from? ECP, GSF and halfords dont list them. Ebay have them for £7.95 for 4 listed as BKR7E-11 plugs

Are the jubilee clips for the standard boost pipes and side mount cooler all 60-80mm clips?

And thirdly, the car seems to have developed a random and intermittent misfire, it happens while ever the SAI pump is running. Im hoping that my first question might fix this. Nothing shows up on vcds-lite apart from on the readiness part, everything says passed apart from SAI, which says failed or incomplete.

Thanks

Are these the 'cooler' plugs for mapped cars?

FYI I replaced mine with 70-90mm hose clips. Seems to fit ok and better looking than the rusty ones.

Maybe the housing for the sai is loose and air is escaping?

Supposedly the cooler plugs yeah ive got those bosch super 4s in atm and they work ok but ever since putting them in, this misfire has creaped in.

Bkr7e-11 are the same plug but ore gapped to 1.1mm instead of the bkr7e that come approx 0.7/8mm out of the box. You can re gap either.

Are people getting good results on thewe plugs? On my last vrs I ran pfr7q being a stage cooler than the standard pfr6q. The only benefit for going down the bkr route is price as copper core though at a quarter of the price. If you atuogle getting any give me a shout as I sell them at work.

Umm. So which cooler plugs are best?

I don't have any experience with the bkr7e in the vrs but I spoke with ngk technical who recommended the pfr7q as they are direct same in every way but cooler. Platinum last longer under normal circumstances for longer service intervals but give no greater spark than a copper core. If the bkr7e do the job in terms of fitment and you replace regularly then it's a cheaper option. As rot are copper core good enough for a 20vt? Well 300 bhp+ cossies run fine on them and personal experience nissan 200sx s13 run stage 2 on simple copper core stage cooler bcpr7es plugs.

Has anyone on here been running bkr7es?

I was recommended to use the Bosch super 4's as I run LPG. All I can say is the car would have run better with two coil packs and diesel :D. They did not suit the car at all and as they are not adjustable (easily) they are a bad idea. The bkr7e's I have alway had off ebay for the lowest price I can find at the time, aim for <£8 and you are doing ok. They are a grade colder so they suit the LPG and as they are a solid copper core they produce a good spark, the fact you can get four as low as £6 means they can be replaced at every service time if you want. Misfires on a stage one map are a nightmare and having tried pretty much every combination I now run the bkr7e's with mk6 coils and a diy wrapped coil pack loom and don't have any issues (apart from one coil dying)

My misfire only occurs while my SAI pump is running which is odd.

As mentioned buddy Ebay sell the BKR7E and BKR7E-11 which are the exact same plugs but just gaped different so buy either

yes, but do not fit unless your car is remapped as no point.

Bosch super 4 are well known to cause misfires and have not got high ratings in the VAG community, certainly on re mapped cars

yep heard this to, they seem to work ok in some mapped cars but not in others..

I bought some a while ago and never fitted them since I have had the BKR7E fitted

Do the bkr7e come gapped correctly? Not had to gap my own plugs in ages lol

I buy my BKR7E plugs from my local CES motor factors. Never had a problem with them on my car, although they do need replacing pretty regularly.

As mentioned somewhere on thread they can come gapped in 1.1mm and these have a -11 at the end of the BK7RE or a already gapped std BK7RE that I think is gapped to 0.8mm. But I always check gap and adjust if needed.

Ordered some bkr7e plugs.

Also pulled the relay on the SAI pump to see if this is the cause of my problems.

No misfire with the SAI not running :) just the EML.

Brown barge. What did you gap them to?

Don't think he has fitted them yet?

Plug gaps should be :

Mapped car = 0.7mm

non mapped car = 0.8mm

Not arrived yet mate. Come pre gapped to 0.7 apparently tho

Have you had a code scan yet?, to be honest sounds like either a dirty throttle body - gets highlighted in cold start conditions - or a split breather pipe. The Bosch plugs wont help at all - they were in mine when I bought it, so much grief and aggravation from a part so cheap.

Yeah scanned it, no codes. Once that SAI goes off the engine is fine
