Octavia Vrs And Esp

Featured Replies

Has anyone with a VRs any experience with ESP? Is it worth the extra money?

Surely ESP is only available on the 4X4, or is that only in the UK? I see from the owner's manual that the ESP system is an optional extra and includes the traction control system (TCS), but TCS is not part of the ESP on 4X4 models nor on models fitted with the 2.0/85kW engine. Back to the drawing board...:(

Well , in Greece ESP is an option for the VRs , for 800 euros (560 pounds). Maybe for a strange reason , it is only happening in England not to be able to order ESP in your VRs.

My greek brother-in-law tells me that the current 180 bhp Octavia in Greece is 4x4 (and I've seen adverts to that effect on our satellite TV), in which case that might explain the availability of ESP - but is the 180bhp 4x4 the 'Greek RS' or does mainland Europe get a more powerful RS than the UK?

Adam

According to skoda-auto.gr the 4x4 and RS models are both available there.

What's strange is that the a 210hp RS is listed along with a 193hp 4x4.

Both have ABT in their names.

Do Skoda greece sell chipped cars from new?

no personal experience with ESP but i believe it was available with the limited edition WRC edition RS along with xenons here in the UK. a few of our active members own these cars and i'm sure they'll chip in soon. :)

ESP and Xenons standard on the WRC

Not sure whether it was the ESP or not, but following 66 and other RS's at the northern run last december, the WRC *did* look slightly more composed than the stock RS's. This could be driving style but it just seemed to "hook in" better.

Sits back with fire extinguisher to await sparks/flames...

ESP is nice if you dont have confidence in the car, most octavias dont seem to *need* it but its personal preference.... seems to be heavy on rear brakes, doesnt it Ian

Undecided, certainly will use them more than a non-ESP car, but think my recent "padkilling" antics may have been due to Lucas pads - now on Ferodo's (OE spec), will see how long they last.

It must have been the ESP that helped on the cornering, and nothing to do with the drivers ability, cos I had my eyes closed most of the time.

And no pilots licence :airjock:
