Boot Lip Protection

Featured Replies

I got in touch with rearguards today, to try and get a rear bumper protector for my VRS hatch, apparently, they don't yet do one for my car, which was a disappointment. I particularly wanted the edge protection.

  • Comparing the skoda one to the www.rearguards.co.uk. I think the rearguard one offers the edge protection, which the skoda one doesn't, which seems a bit silly as that is probably the most vulnerable

  • Just for comparison..this was fitted by RGM (rearguards.co.uk) Last week.       Can't fault it...and I think it looks good as well !!

Really? Poo. After a weekend of diy/demolition and dump runs I noticed how wide the bumper is and saw this thread gleefully!  Any plans to do one for the vrs hatch?

I actually scratched mine doing something similar, so the protector would cover the scratch and prevent more.

I got the impression they would produce one at some point, but I will ask when they are likely to sell one.

If a few vrs hatch owners all ask, we may be able to speed them up. ;)

They do one for the standard hatch, I don't see why that wouldn't fit.

The bumper is a different part on the vrs, not sure how much differently shaped it is at the top, but its different. The rear reflector is the big visual difference.

I just ordered the Rearguard for the VRS hatch. I assumed RBP603 for the Series IV 5 door would fit. Oops.

I have a feeling it might fit as they specifically made one for the Series III Combi why would they not address the VRS hatch? Worst case scenario it might not be quite as deep once fitted but would that matter? As long as it follows the curve. Wishful thinking perhaps.

I hope so too!  :notme: I'd also assumed they were the same.

I think you'll be alright, but we'll see. Worst case you might be able to flog it to another hatch owner in Perth.

Well, I wasn't sure, which is why I asked them directly. I am more than happy to hear if the standard one fits the vrs hatch okay. I shall look forward to seeing what you guys have found with yours and possibly some pics too?

Fingers crossed it fits

The estate version specifically says (non vRS), and then there is a vRS specific version (and a Scout specific version by the look of it too).

From the information on their website (i.e nothing to say it is for non vRS models only), I would expect it to fit, and if it doesn't then I'd be sending it back.  As long as it is unused and in the original packaging, you should be able to return it under the DSR anyway.

I should have fitted a bumper protector as my baby Great Dane Kade (15 months and 78 kilos and still growing) has well and truly destroyed the bumper on my car and a expensive repair is required before I get rid of the VRS in January. Duh !!!

Another one here for Rearguards having fitted one to my Mk vRS, saved a few scratches from the dog!

Sorry if this has been answered, but where has FamousAfroJay bought his from? Is it from SuperSkoda/the one offered by Skoda?

Thanks for the pictures Miz, they help a lot more than talking about it.

I was confused by the Rearguards description as  "OCTAVIA IV 5DR 2.2013"  but can now order the RBP603 for my Corrida Red car with confidence.

I fitted a Richard Grant one to my silver SE hatch a couple of weeks ago - perfect colour match, and subtle design too. A tight fit under the hatch bottom lip, but not a problem. Just be VERY careful lining up.

I agree, look brill. I've got the same colour estate and want to do the same thing

Where did you get it from and how much?

I've put a black rearguards one on my vRS - not cheap but well made and looks like it could have been on there from the factory.

Great thread.

I get my Race Blue VRS estate next week and think a glossy black protector would look very nice and stop the pooch making his mark on the bumpers.

Check before ordering - not sure if Rearguards do it in gloss black - matt certainly. Their "carbon fibre" look goes well on my black pearl.

Post #82 shows the superskoda gloss black http://www.superskoda.com/Skoda/OCTAVIA-III/Octavia-III-Combi-RS-original-Skoda-rear-bumper-protective-panel-GLOSSY-BLACK

That matches with the black pack (If you have it) or the front and rear Monty Carlo badges

Fair enough! The two differences between Superskoda's and the Rearguards is the Rearguards don't have the ridges - which are a matter of personal taste (and IMHO look a bit "off-roadish") - but they DO go over the edge, giving greater protection than Superskoda's.

Just a heads up for vRS estate owners thinking of getting the Rearguards boot lip protection.

They don't come up behind the boot lid any more   I spoke to Reargurads this morning and they confirmed that they had problems with the boot not registering it was shut so they have now trimmed them down.

Does the Rearguards now add the same protection as OEM?
