dyno graphs help!

Featured Replies

had my car rolling roaded twice within two weeks of each other at two different places.

the second graph was done on a 2 month old rolling road

my problem is the difference in power out puts and the serveraty of the graphs.

looks like a bloody heart beat!

and from reading through this sight that the power levels dont seems right either.

I have done

3"decat and full stainless exhaust system

cold air intake behind the front passanger grille.

the person before me owning this said they had it remapped but no proof

Would have been good if they had hooked up the wideband to show air/fuel ratio.

I'd start with logging certain groups using VCDS to try and find out what's happening.

I'd be pretty happy with the figures from the second power run!

The numbers on the first graph, are they wheels figures? It looks like a very sensitive set of rollers that shows up all the lumps and bumps. It is also a characteristic of the standard mapping in that it "pulses". You don't feel it on the road as such but a power run showing data without much smoothing will show it up. Mapping companies that really know the standard ECU (R-tech, Shark etc.) can map this out. Think it is called "torque intervention". Tonnes on Google.

Also, what rolling road hardware and software was used in both cases? The first printout looks similar to the setup at R-tech. What gear was used and how did they pick up the rpm reading?

I love looking at rolling road graphs, but you can sometimes get too carried away and people moan about how their car underachieves in terms of absolute numbers. As long as it drives well is what matters. It's best to pick a set of rollers that you like and stick with them so you can see the effects of mods that you do before and after. And even though, temperature differences, tyre wear, tyre pressures etc. will cause variations.

I'm assuming the second sheet is Dr Japs/Dr Remaps? I'd be believing their sheet.

Their equipment and the guys are great, they had my Scimitar on it a couple of months ago.
