yellow mk1 octavia vrs

Featured Replies

So iv decided to start a project thread. I bought my vrs 2 months ago. It had one owner from new and fsh only downside was its clocked 142k! After doing some research I decided to go for it after seeing other 1.8t with alot more miles on.

Its been garaged all its life and bin up n down the motorways in between, pretty tidy interior but needs some tlc on the bodywork.

The car will be used as abit of a toy thats still pratical for going camping ect. I will be after doing a few track days too :)

In the 2 months of ownership iv done a fair bit to it.

This includes:

fixing the central locking,

Replacing driveshaft seals and gearbox oil replaced,

2 new rear calipers,

2 new handbrake handles,

New rear discs and pads (pagid)

New front pads (ds2500)

New front discs (pagid)

New brake fluid (ate super blue)

3" pipe to airbox and airbox modified to fit the pipe,

Grill drilled to allow air to intake pipe.

List of things to be done are:

New suspension as mine is knackered,

front strut brace

Arbs front and rear

Corrosion has started on front and rear arches,

Bootlid needs 2 new struts and dents being removed and resprayed.

I will upload some pics of her later :)

***Update***

Been tackling my sills the past few weeks. Not had much time to work on it due to work. Both my sills and front wings have rust on. One side is nearly complete the other iv just started grinding. Got mot this month but not sure I will get it done in time. Also waiting on my ap coilovers and cupra r topmounts to arrive. Pics will follow when its all sorted.

Oh also redoing my gearbox seals as I must of broke them getting them in the 1st time.

Iv had a oi leak for some time too trying to find out where its coming from. Hoping its just a breather pipe above the dipstick area.

Coilovers have arrived :D

Coilovers have been fitted along with new bearings and the lcr top mounts also new stretch bolts. Drivers front was a pain, broke all 3 bolts that attach the wishbone to the hub :(. Found a nifty way on youtube of how to getthe strut out with a scissor jack.

In the middle of fitting the tt strut brace just waiting on the bolts iv ordered from a local fixings company.

Car is currently off the road and waiting for a occ and a few blanking plugs to finish off the evap delete.

Spoke to a body shop the other day who are going to repair my drivers side sill and mot it whilst its there.

Pics will follow when I have time to take them lol.

Tt strut brace drilled and test fit bolts. Just need to protect the drilled holes.

Fit some tt jacking points yesterday. If u haven't got them already id seriously consider it. Iv got a leaking gearbox again. Appears to be coming from the case it's self. Looking like its a box off job :(

Holes have been painted, strut brace is drying awaiting lacquer. Had to replace a bolt at the bottom of my wing and one front mud gaurd has been fit. Drivers side has arch liner removed and iv cleaned all the mud from out of the arch.

Front wing is yet to come off. It needs to have the rust removed like passenger side wing. As I said above the sill will be welded and sprayed after my mot. Was trying to get it on the road for September but with the current gearbox problem its looking unlikely.

Michi Occ has been payed for so big thanks to lloyd for doing that. Cant wait to get it on and get the car running again.

Ordered a forge blank kit for the sai. Might see about doing that before mot too.

So been a while since my last update. Been pretty busy working on the car.

Iv removed the side strips,

installed a oil catch can,

replaced airbox with a s2k filter and reducer,

adjusted coilovers to a drivable ride height,

replaced the oil pick up pipe,

fixed gearbox leak (touch wood)

5mm front spacers

New abs sensor drivers side

In the process of:

removing SAI, N249 and N112,

Adjusting and replacing parts on the gear linkages,

re sealing my sump after replacing the pickup pipe.

Im thinking about getting the ramair induction setup in the new year along with a new tip and dv. After that ill be looking at a remap. Heres a few pics iv taken on my phone.

Been pretty busy :)20141206_134324_zpsnuiirk2_edit_14178778

I want to do that to mine, do you like the s2000 filter set up? i think the standard set up is best but you don't get no noise!

The s2000 filter makes it sound great. Im going to be going down the ramair route. Looks like a decent bit of kit.

Re sealed my sump today. Touch wood it wont leak this time. Orderd up 5 resistors for all the deleting iv been doing. Just waiting on some hoses and caps. Then its fill it back up with oil and coolant :)

Resistors have been installed but management light keeps popping on for the Charcoal Canister. Quality of the filter is great car feels a lot more responsive and picks up nicely in gear.

Had to remove my wheel spacers because it was making my car shake, need to check out why im getting a lack of feedback at speed.

Looks a very nice clean example. Wish i could motivate myself to get out and clean mine!

Started to get the wrapping fever. Grill and parts of the centre console have been done. Just need to get the radio out and wrap the rest.

Got a new dv and tip on its way in the post thanks to a member on the forum.DSC_0028_zpsmtgaz4ae.jpg

Really looking forward to getting these on. Car feels like it's going somewhere now. Downside had to have a new windscreen fit. Seemed to of cracked whilst it was being stored in my garage.

Car is coming on nicely pal, I have a cold air induction set up going down behind ns wheel and that gives a decent noise
