Scratch repair estimate (relatively minor) + bodyshop recommendation

Featured Replies

Missus caught the front passenger side bumper/wheel arch on our alleyway this afternoon, relatively minor but it's down to the plastic on the edge of the bumper and unfortunately *just* caught the front of the wheel arch down to the metal. Fortunately there's no real deformation just paintwok damage.

Took a couple of (Not great) mobile pics:

Gonna nip out now and clean it up, anyone have a ballpark figure it might cost to get it sorted?

Also any any bodyshop recommendations in the North/West Yorkshire area?

Doubly annoying (and bloody typical!) as last weekend I literally went round the entire car bodywork and t-cut/polished every single mark on it!

I'd say £300 - £400 for a good job.

Looks quite minor you may get away with a mobile smart repair such as chips away.

About £180 for a mobile repair but id take it to a bodyshop.

Thanks all, was fearing it might be around the £300 mark.

Not a great month, have road tax, MoT, service AND cambelt change due in the next two months!

Just been out and tidied it up a bit, doesn't look quite so bad:

My Dad did similar brushing a wall where he parks for work.  He asked me to tidy it up, so I wet sanded and polished the affected area and then just put in a couple of coats of lightly applied touch up paint he bought.

Both of us knew he would do it again (which he has.....) so it was only a temp thing to improve it.

It doesn't look like most of your damage will wet sand out though, perhaps just ease off the edges.

Thanks devon. WIll have a fresh look at it in decent light in the morning and get a professional opinion or two over the w/e.

Well I'd cover up the scratch on the wing and think about the rest. The bumper isn't going to rust so you can sit on that until you've money.

Yes I was thinking that, short-term at least. Ordered a touch-up kit last night so will see how I get on with that.

A chap turned up do do a smart repair on a neighbours car and certainly looked the business- more professional and better equipped than the chipsaway bloke who did a repair on SWMBO Seat a few years ago.

he said its simple to get a quote- you just send them some photos and go from there. Might be worth asking just so you get a firm ideaon how much it'll cost. You can always say no thanks as its a no obligation quote.

Thanks Littleade, didn't get a chance to take it anywhere this w/e and won't have a chance this week so will fire them an email to see what they come back with.
