I guess ill just pay somEone to do the tracking then

Neiltaylorvrs

sorry to disappoint you - but if you think that a check on the tracking is the answer - I'm afraid you are in for a bit of a let down.

If you do have the tracking done, ensure that you go to a specialist with a four wheel laser system  NOT one of the mickey mouse high street organisations.

Spend some time on this forum and see the chaos that is embracing this problem. I refer you again to post 11.

You said -

"but I mentioned the steering to the lady in the reception, and she diagnosed it in two seconds, without even looking,"

sorry, but do not be persuaded by this apparent flash of instant knowledge!

When I menTioned the lady in reception,I was being sarcastic as if to say how can and know without even looking!, I'm sure ill get used to holding the steering wheel six inches to the right :-(

You need the Steering, & Steering Sensor checked, you need the car Safe,

You have a Warranty, so push for your Consumer Rights.

& you have a MOT coming up,

best get the car MOt'd at least 3 weeks before the MOT is due,

& that will be before the Warranty Expires.

Do not pay attention to the word of Service Desk Staff,

ask them if they are a Qualified Technician, and if not ask for the Workshop Manager or Master Tech.

Steering is a Critical Safety Matter, all car mechanicals are,

Expect a Professional Service, or get Skoda UK that Pay the Warranty Work to be done

to find people that can provide that.

So what's the steering sensor, would that cause the problem, I'm going back to dealer tomorrow so id like to sound like I know what I'm talking about or they'll just say"tracking mate, fourty pound"

You do not need to know anything, you are a customer,  & do not pay them anything.

(best not tell them their job, just ask them to do the job properly, and find out what is wrong.)

The car needs driven by an Experienced Technician or driver, & if allowed as to go out with them,

to see what they say about the steering wheel position.

It should go on the ramp first for them to see if any obvious damage.

If it needs work,

then you want to know if they are putting a Warranty Claim into Skoda.

Hey,

It would be good Neil to let us know how you get on with the dealers. I have the same problem with my Monte. I don't know if they are the same steering setup or springs but my car doesn't pull to the left like other Monte's but the steering does sit off slightly when driving down a straight road and its annoying as hell. I have had the tracking checked by a independent garage and they said all is fine and adjusted the steering and it was better but I still feel its not 100%.

This all happened when I hit a pot hole at the start of this year and my alignment has felt funny ever since.

I have a feeling they'll just say everything is ok, get on with it,Lol but we'll see,I wouldn't mind someOne else having a drive in it who has one of these,, any one in Cumbria? :-)

Try Dave (Sharkrider), he lives in your area, I believe.

I've got a similar problem with my steering wheel. As soon as I go above 20mph the wheel is slightly to the right. Last time I was messing about trying to figure out what could be causing it. Up until yesterday, I had my steering wheel on lowest height setting. So last night I adjusted the height to maximum and it seems to have put it back to normal. Strange really. The same thing used to happen in my Citroen. Whenever I had wheel on lowest height it would be slightly to the right when driving straight.

I am going to take it for tracking and wheel alignment though at some point. It's doing my head in and like the guys say, it needs to be safe.

im workington, you could drive mine to see

Same here it's doing my Head in too some may think what he complaining about bit I'm constantly looking at the wheel, and if I let wheel go (no cars obviously), the wheel centers and car goes left, I'm not accepting it's normal, it's booked into dealers Thursday and if I get no Joy ill be ringing skoda direct and mad monk I'm just outside Whitehaven if you wanna drive my car to seewht you think?

Ask the Skoda Workshop manager if there is a Problem in them fixing the car correctly, who you should go to,

& can the Arrange with Skoda UK for them to pay for the Warranty Work being done.

This about covers all the possible problems, but then the Master Tech will know this already.

Oh they where very quick George to jump on the"it's the tracking "bandwagon and get fourty quid out of me as i say id gladly pay it if it cured it but I've a feeling it wouldn't be any different

Summer time.

I would try moving the front wheels and tyre to the rear, and obviously the rears to the front.

Check & set the tyre pressures and the TPMS and see how it feels.

What tyres are on,

& are they Directional Tyres.?

  • Author

I've just had two new maxxis tyres put on The front , the rear ones are odd i think,a budget one on one side and a margoni on the other

Not good at the Rear.

You need to measure the rears and see the size are actually identical.

(you can Effect the ESP with miss matched tyres by just a small amount of size difference.

identical tyres at different pressures can be noticed, if not by the ABS sensors at least by drivers sometimes.)

Are they Zeta Linea?

I had 4 Marangoni Vanto on a car and it was having a speed/Death wobble above 60 mph,

not a balancing problem. Balanced the tyres and moved them about, yet never figured which was the wrong one,

but it was a tyre that had a distortion

& i got a pair replaced under warranty.

neil, im off all weekend, if you want then pm me and we can meet, might be better if you drive mine as im no mechanic and havent lived with your problem. driving another it might stand out to you a little easier, either way im easy
