2nd click unlock

Featured Replies

I had to change my drivers window regulator recently. Today i realised that hitting the unlock button on the key would not unlock rear doors.

Is this somethink that has to be reset on vag-com or something or have i fecked something up or not connected something.

Also to add to this i had a flat battery as i havent used the car all week. Its charged now but fault still occurring

It is configured in VAG-COM / VCDS in the CCM.  There are a whole load of settings around lights, horn, autolock and other features.

From VCDS wiki:

http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/cars/passatb5.html

"Selective Unlocking:

[select]
[46 - Cent. Conv.] (35 - Cent. Locking for manual window cars)
[Recode - 07]
Write down the existing coding for future reference.
Enter 5-digit code from below
[Do It!]

Look at the existing Soft. Coding. If you have selective unlocking (press the unlock button on the remote once to open the driver's door, twice to open all the doors) the last digit of your coding should be an odd number. To make all doors unlock, add 1 to the coding."

Hi, thanks for your reply. Ive re-read what i wrote, i dont think i was clear.

The rear and passenger doors never opened until the 2nd press of the button, this is the bit thats stopped working. The doors all lock, the boot will pop and the windows will roll down and up as usual. Its just the one function that isnt working thats why i thought id messed something up.

But if it has got something to do with the settings i will need to get someone to fix it for me

I have had the car on for an hour on a vcds set up and nothing worked with the coding. But now have auto locking when driving so thats good

There appears to be a problem with the passenger door though. At one stage we noticed it was the only door that didnt unlock. So the guy reckons it could be a problem with the passenger door module.

Has anyone any experience with this please

I've read that the lock modules can fail, as can the wiring to the door locks etc in the door jamb (under the rubber concertina).

Thanks for your input guys. That lonk V6TDI was something id heard off when my interior lights stopped working. So the plan for the weekend was to get the door lock stripped. Im gona get the parts guy to price one through work discount.

But guess what happened this morning when i went out. The flippin doors opened lol. But only on the second click despite the reprograming. But aslong as it keeps working i wont complain.

Probably worth trying to figure out while it is working though, it looks like these are a pig to fix once you have a door which won't open and is locked shut...  which it sounds like you might be on the way to!

I had a similar problem with 1 door, now all 4 doors display this symptom, at random.

Free solution: hit the door with your palm as you hit the unlock button on the remote with the other hand.  This is just enough to make (1) with contact in the lead-free solder joints in the lock mechanism, or (2) free up a sticky mechanism.

It would cost close to a grand to get a garage to fix all 4 doors.  It is very labour intensive.  And new genuine locks are not cheap either.

Much less DIY but I have no time - rear doors in particular are quite tricky,

Is it both rear doors?  Is the car programmed as a 2 door?  I know my fabia was for quite some time and I had never realised the back doors weren't locking.  A quick change of the coding on the central convenience module soon changed it.
