Stream mp3 stereo cd error

Featured Replies

Hi

I've been trying to get my AUX working with my iphone to play music but i'm having a problem, it won't connect it keeps giving me a cd error, i believe the previous owner may have jammed a cd in the mp3 slot on the front of the stereo, when i try to switch to AUX it keeps changing back to CD and then giving me the error. The reason i believe there is a cd jammed in there is because i tried putting a cd in there and it won't go in.

I have taken the stereo out and i was going to attempt to open the unit and remove the CD, I can't find a torque screwdirver small enough to remove the casing, but then i had another idea. Since i won't need the mp3 player, what if i just disconnected the wire that controls the power to the mp3 cd ? do you see what i mean?

the problem is i have no idea which wire it is on the loom. maybe there is a diagram? i am not very technical minded, so i could use a little help with this

any help is appreciated.

Thanks for that, do you know which port is the mp3 cd? i don't want to disconnect the cd multi changer

Im not sure there is a port as such. How do you tell the unit to choose the changer??

The mp3/cd disc player is an integral part of the head unit. I'm not sure there is a way of disconnecting it but keeping the rest of the head unit working. In any case it would mean opening the unit up so a suitable sized torx driver would still be needed.

EBay is quite a good source of small torx driver sets at reasonable prices if you need one.

Thats exactly what I was thinking!!

How do you tell the unit to choose the changer??

The "CD" button on the front: once for in-dash, again for autochanger.

The "CD" button on the front: once for in-dash, again for autochanger.

So for aux (if fitted), would it be a third time??

I think so, however it's been a while since I used a Stream, the last time was only a month ago, but that was for 2 hours whilst I got the Scout home, another 30 mins and the RNS315 was installed. ;)

The one I came home with has CD-Error too, so I used the boot-changer for the way home instead.

IIRC Aux could be activated/deactivated via the settings in the Stream, along with input volume. I think mine was de-activated as I had a changer full of CDs.

So, yes, keep pressing the CD button. :)

The CD button remembers whatever you chose last time. Pressing it repeatedly will cycle through the three options - built in CD / CD Changer / Aux In.

Cheers. Then if that's the case, to the OP the fact it switches back to CD seems to me to actually indicate aux is not properly activated. I would have thought that even if the CD was stuck you could still overrule that by switching to a properly activated aux. Maybe worth getting it hooked up to VCDS if its not in the stereo settings.
