Storing Clay

Featured Replies

At Easter I bought a Meguiar's kit which included a bit of clay. It's the first time I've used clay and was amazed by the results. The paint became silky smooth.

Since you don't need to clay the car every time you wash it, what is the best way of storing it? I halved the bar, so have a bit I used (not sure If I can use it again) and an unused bit.

I put mine in the fridge in the garage where my beer and boutique/soft waxes are

I section up my clay into equal sizes and separate into small re-sealable freezer/ziplock bags from Costco.

Then stored in the cellar which is always cool even in summer.

These ziplock bags are good for many detailing items btw - polishing pads are easy to seal between uses for example.

I stupidly left mine in a cupboard in the garage (gets direct sunlight in the monring), came to it a few weeks ago and it's melted inside the case... d'oh.
