3" Downpipe + Decat/SportsCat

Featured Replies

Whats the best ome to go for, to go onto the OEM ,vRS TFSI exhaust system?

Any one know of any used ones up for sale?

+ Which is the best Remap to get for Stage 2?

* For power

* Does it cost more for a Stage 2 map? ( Silly Question, but not sure as never mapped before )

Also looking for a EVOMS?

Have these seen any gains at all? 2bhp ect?

Hi mate,

Firstly, I'm of the personal opinion that a decat downpipe has no real input on sound nor will who manufactured it make any difference regards power, spool up or noise. So with that in mind, so long as the flanges are smooth, the bends flow nicely, and it fits the occy, dont spend a fortune when it will never pay to do so. There are a lot of downpipes on the bay from the states and the continent which I have seen make great improvements on stage 2 tfsi's. Just save the money you would spend on a 'branded' downpipe, and put it to a full system when you are ready. This is the part of the system to be more fussy over.

EVOMS looks to be there or thereabouts the best flowing system out there regards MAF inputs, competition may at some point decide to say that the intake creates turbulent flow creating unreliable signals. Or some other, dont buy that buy this. But I doubt it, so stick with that, the intake thing comes down to budget as there is a huge gulf between the good the bad and the ugly and not always the way you would think! 'Coughtwintakecough'

I didnt spot where you are from bud, but the price depends on where you go, and where you go depends on what you want? Different software gives different results, plus any gadgets like sps or cruise control switch activation are reserved for the more 'upmarket' tuners. Again, my advice, R-tech, Gower seems a top bloke, gets good feedback, and wont charge you the earth.

Stage 2 requires coding adaption for CEL, and takes a fair ammount more time that 1. Understandably it will cost more.

Hope any of that helps, Dale

What Dale said, although it was all completely over my head!

The important thing with intakes other than flow is to make sure fuel trims are correct after fitting. If you get an incorrectly made MAF housing the trims will be thrown out.

Most intake makers are aware of this now so hopefully it won't be an issue but worth checking With VCDS once fitted.

Was thinking this with the downpipes but was unsure if the welding ect wid be up to "standard" with cheaper eBay ones.

Do sports cats give more of a gain to decat?.

Im thinking EVOMS just from the reviews, nothing else realy.

Twin take is not an option as ones iv seen i dont lik.

I take the Revo one piece intake if I had the cash, failing that the ITG Maxogen.

With the eBay downpipe lots of folk run them in the states without issue, I be more concerned with the coupling if anything. Decat will allow the gases the exit quicker so that would be my choice. The whole idea is to get air in and out of the engine as quick as possible.
